Anyone go to the WALL/ Redwood Road? (Oak/Berk/CV)

Hey all,

Just wondering if any of you ever visit the wall in Oak/Berkely hills or take drives on Redwood Rd. If anyone's down to go let me know.

I used to drive Redwood Rd before it got covered with so much gravel. I like the paint on the side of my car too much. I do drive it every once and awhile though.

What is the Wall?

The Wall is well, a wall, that's on the very top of Grizzly Peak Blvd. near South Park drive and the steam trains in Tilden Park.

Motorcyclists and car folks hang out up there for the view, usually around sunset.

I dunno what the wall is, but i spun my car on redwood rd back in july 2002

I almost went flying over the 24 Tunnel exit coming off the road above it one night being really stupid.

Luck saved me.

Not skill.

I used to ride Redwood pretty regularly. That road seems to get worse every year. I've only been back there once since it claimed my crank case cover, a foot peg, brake lever, and some skin.

Is redwood road the one off highway 13?

yes you can get to it off 13.

it exits out into castro valley.

Like I said, it's too covered in gravel now to really have any fun, well unless you are insane and put yourself, your car and bicyclists at risk.

you guys ever take a ride down Canyon Rd, off of Skyline in Oakland (near Redwood Park), ends up in no man's land in between Oakland, Castro Valley and Moraga.

Cool road, but watch for bikers and hippies.

I did Canyon Rd two times and both times I saw two cops waiting for their prey.

I haven't been back since.

yep I got stopped on Redwood in my VW about 6 months ago because (according to the cop) "the engine sounds like a Porsche engine"

They are hunting car guys up there.

Bikes as well. A couple years ago you could go ***** out and not worry about it. They been crackin down for a while now.

There are plenty of other roads around here to use for a nice leisurely drive

Mines is still one of my favorites!

Yes yes yes. Mines is an awesome all day affair (Livermore to Mt Ham)

You guys gotta try 25 from Hollister to highway 198 (between King City and Coalinga)

Hecker Pass is awesome (but short....a bit of a drive for the brief excitement).

Los Gatos-Coalinga Rd is nearly WRC material......dirty and bumpy but hard to beat for flat-out, eyes-dialated, white knuckle fun.
