anyone get work done at Xtreme HID in SJ?
Hi, Im Tony.
Im here to clear things up.
dchoi23 asked for Hid Kit. He did not ask for a retrofit. I also do that, with OEM Bulbs Ballast Projectors.
I have dealt with my source factory for 7+ years direct from manufacturer. My kits are not cheap DC kits, and I refuse to sell DC kits.
what kit is going to cost you $350-450 without it being a retrofit please enlighten me, and I can give you suggestions

Xtreme HID sells cheap ebay kits and marks em up way more than needed. however he's also got to pay for the cost of the shop and labor so i guess it all adds up.
*edit* in fact, I have done screen shots to forward to someone if Tony does decide to take you down for libel.

I think that was the confusion. I didn't know this wasn't a retrofit kit. The kit I was looking at for a retrofit was about $35-400.

I barely drive the car Tony worked on - maybe once a month. I haven't driven the car at night more than a few times but it needed a quick fix and Tony did a great job and the value, for my purpose, was perfect. If I felt like waiting a few weeks and spending a ****load of cash, then I would've bought something from Japan and had it shipped but then it would serve the same purpose. it's not a show car, I track it (not as much as I would like to) and it is sometimes driven.
So - Tony did great job and has good stuff. Xtreme - didn't get to experience them but I'm sure they provide the right service and product for their customers.
end of story. let's let this thread die and move on.

Think very carful on this...do you have PROOF of this, or are you just throwing around acusations without evidence? If you don't have hard PROOF, you are setting yourself up for a lible lawsuit, think on that.

The kit that was given to me by some shop was the same Xentec HID kit I always see on Ebay, and I'm not ******* em. The fact that they have lifetime warranty and the fact that John will take care of them 100% is worth the cost in the end. It's just that If you're gonna buy a kit like that, might as well pay them to do a proper retro.
My buddy had work done by John a long while back, and he's known him for quite some time. They guys there are great and yeah they're pricey but it's also due to business and having to pay for everything and the included cost on warranty. I can't say I 100% know that they do but I can say from what I was shown and told what was given from them to my knowledge they do. However now that I think of it, that shop is usually full of **** so who knows.
Regardless, Johns a great guy that will take care of you, he's usually at the shop, and he has to cover some of his fees as well. So regardless of whatever kit he's selling the reasoning behind the price is also for the lifetime warranty and installation and everything else.
I can't speak for Tony as I've never dealt with him but I can speak of what I know from Xtreme. Can't say I've had any negative experiences just speaking my 2 cents.
I have an 06 wrx wagon. I contacted lightwerkz, and they ADVISED me not to do a retrofit. They told me that the halogen projector within the hawkeye headlights are sufficient to do a HID kit into. I bought their clear lenses, and bought an aftermarket HID kit from my friend. It is not a brand name, but it works great and I got 6K bulbs.
It might not be done "right". But retros are not cost efficient for the end product I wanted. With the significantly cheaper products that I got, I have a solid cutoff, and my output is much better than stock bulbs were.
I did the research, and asked lightwerkz their opinion. I took their advice, and did spend 2-3 occasions dialing in my headlight leveling, making sure they do not ever hit the rear or side view mirrors of the car in front of me.
In my opinion, it's not whether or not someone mods their car, but rather whether or not they do their research to do it within an acceptable way. I think even though I didn't perform a retro, I did it acceptably. You should not assume that everyone does not put in the time to do proper research. You also should not assume that everyone is inconsiderate of other drivers.
