Anyone ever driven down the 1 to Monterey?

I'm considering driving (a pretty girl) down the 1 from SF to Monterey Bay on Sat morn. Looks about 3 hours according to google. Anyone done this? Three hours sound right? How's the drive/view?

HUck I'd say continue to Carmel. Go for lunch and what not, the Take the G17 Carmel Valley Rd. and get all giddy over the homws and richness, and enjoy the road. It's really nice.

I used to make morning runs to Santa Cruz in one hour, but if you're driving a pretty girl you should take more time, stopping to take in the views and stuff.
If she has a sweet tooth you can't miss by stopping for a cinnamon roll at Davenport.
If she likes the sea lions you'll want to stop at Ana Nuevo.

But if she likes driving fast- figure on it taking about an hour and a half.....

highway 1 from sf to monterey is almost 3 hours or maybe more since youre going thru other cities like pacifica and davenport.its a nice scenic drive as long as there's no traffic.you can hit pigeon point and ano nuevo on the way down also.but only if you stay on highway 1 all the way down.better leave early huck just in case of traffic on the way specially mission st. in santa cruz.

sometimes there is a fruit stand open that has decent produce, and fresh honey from a local farm. Love that place.

HWY 1 from SF to Santa Cruz is fun. From Santa Cruz to Monterey is damn boring.

If you don't feel like driving back up hwy 1, once you get to watsonville cut across to HWY 152/Hecker pass and stop at the outlets and let her go shopping. That could score you some points.

Or if you want to see more beautiful scenery and several reservoirs:
Take 152 from watsonville.
once you get passed all the twisties, take a left at Watsonville Rd.
go 4-5 miles and take a left at Uvas Rd.
Another 10 miles or so go by Uvas turns in to McKean Rd.
McKean drops you in to a residential area, go left over the bridge to stay on McKean for a 300 or so feet.
Turn left at Almaden Rd.
This road changes to Hicks Rd. and dumps you out on to Camden Ave. Take a left and keep going. It takes you to HWY 85 where you will be more familiar.

That route, and Eureka Canyon Rd are my two favorite routes to get back to my house in SJC from Watsonville.

Good luck huck.
