Does your service suck also? I cant get service at my house.. I call and complain they are no help. I goto the tmobile store they tell me its my phone I need to upgrade (sidekick2) I buy a Blackberry 7105t one of there better phones.. I still get no serice, They tell me that they need to "flash" my phone so that it will get better service.. No service I call them yesterday and the lady on the phone tells me that there is nothing she can do about the service in my area and that she knows how I feel thats why she "Switched to another provider" I asked how can I get out of my contract cause I dont wanna pay 70$ a month for a phone i can't even use. She tells me I can't.. Anyone work at t-mobile can give me some advice on how to get out of my contract or how to make them fix this?

I have T-Mobile. I switched to them from Verizon earlier this year. I'm pretty happy with the service, but their coverage is not as good as Verizon. OTOH, they are a lot cheaper.

Well After 5 different customer service reps tell me I need to buy a new phone I talk to a manage and she tells me that its my area and to Fax them my bank statement and other misc items with my adress on it and to give them a call back tomorrow.. She said that if I do really live where I said I did they might be able to cancel my service free of charge... What kinda deals can you get me with verizon?

It's just your area like the thebing said. You're just probably far from the next cellsite tower, and you can't do anything about it but just to wait for them to expand. The best way to find out if its only your phone that's not getting service is to compare it with a different t-mobile phone side by side, from a friend or ask around in your area if they have t-mobile and getting a bad service. I've had t-mobile for a couple of years now and I won't get any service once i go inside my house, but a couple of months ago I started gettin signal from inside. Which I'm very happy, I asked around the t-mobile place near my area and they said that they expanded a bit added a couple of cellsite towers.

Frankly Tmobile sucks. i had tmobile and could not get a signal in my house. Last Jan i was roaming with 3 phones Sprint, Verizon and Cingular. Out of these 3 Verizon is the best but u get stuck on the CDMA technology. Hence i went in for Cingular. So far i have a dropped call on 85 and Elcamino junction. Else Cingular service is fantastic.

Tmobile is cheap because they don't have good service.

Oh if you want to get a reception in u r house go to Wirelessgalaxcy.com they have a $300 kit to get a reception. Again this will defeat the purpose of TMobile contract.

In simple words my friend you are a hostage of Tmobile and they will try to get money from u be asking you to buy a new phone.

PDA type phones don't have good reception (Blackberry, Treo, MDA, Sidekick, etc). Verizon is overpriced, their plans are poor, customer service is atrocious, and their phones suck (CDMA).

If you want to check coverage, check out the T-Mobile coverage check map on the website. It'll tell you exactly how strong a signal you will get at any location in the USA.

Also, having just completed a cross country drive I can say that I had coverage easily 2-3x more than my copilot who has Sprint. He was on digital roam from NY to CA when he had service at all. T-Mobile doesn't roam.

I've had problems with a few RAZRs through t-mobile...so recently (after my 3rd phone) I asked if I could switch to another phone, I assumed that since I had been paying for insurance for the last couple years and the phones that they gave me weren't working for very long, it wouldn't be a problem...I was told that the insurance didn't apply to RAZRs anymore! (as of last week, so if you have t-mob and a razr...) Had to shell out cash for a new phone, but other than that I haven't had too many problems. I even get reception in places where my girlfriend doesn't (verizon). The reception with Samsungs seems to be the best for t-mob...

Ive had TMobile for a long time, almost 4 years. Reception is not always the best (slowly been improving) but you cant beat the price. Good customer service, I like them.

I forgot to mention my first phone i had was nokia flip phone from t-mobile that the phone I had when I first started my contract I upgraded to the sidekick 2 then to the blackberry.. I noticed an improvement in the service a little bit around town but not at my house or anywhere close to my house.. The tmobile site cannot find my house so I looked at another location where my friend lives (basically my home away from home)and it says 0 bars.. I had to fax in a few papers to t-mobile tonight and I will find out tomorrow if I can get out of my contract.. Im looking into other phones right now but not sure of what service to get.. I was looking at sprint/cingular but not sure.. The only reason why I dont think I want sprint is because of the no sim cards. I like to change my phone often..

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile a while back, so I can offer some comparisons. When I switched, they T-Mobile guy at the company owned store was very upfront about the limitations of their coverage. They're also the preferred carrier of my current employer (because they have good coverage for international travelers) but people complain about the domestic coverage. Having said all this, I've never had trouble with reception, but I haven't done all that much traveling since I got the phone.

In the several years I had Verizon I have to say I was amazed by their coverage. When traveling to remote parts of the US with my coworkers who had AT&T, Cingular, and Sprint phones, I was often the only one with coverage. In fact the only place I can recall not having coverage was in a remote part of North Cascades National Park in Washington (although at Kitt Peak I only had coverage on one side of the mountain). In my experience Verizon and T-Mobile have roughly equally good customer service (I think Consumer Reports claims the same). Verizon has better downloadable applications, but I found the ones that rely on a digital connection only work in large cities.

I switched to T-Mobile earlier this year for a three reasons: first, the Verizon business model is to charge you for everthing. They sell bluetooth phones where they have completely disabled the bluetooth so that it can't even talk to your computer, so that you have to go through their network and pay them. I can't tell you how much nicer it is to have my phone sync with my computer's address book and not have to pay anyone for it. Verizon plans are bare bones, and even basic additional functionality will (a) cost you and (b) not work as well as other providers. Second, they cancelled pensions that they had promised to their employees, which I thought was kind of low. Third, they shared phone records of their customers with the NSA without question even though it was illegal. T-Mobile and a few other phone companies refused, even though they were asked and since the NSA knew it was illegal they didn't ask twice. That was the third strike for me. Well, that and I really wanted a non-crippled bluetooth phone . . . I can pretend it was for political and constitutional reasons, but really it was because a coworker had a non-crippled bluetooth phone and I wanted one too.

I got T-Mobile. I'm on the prepaid $1 a day Sidekick plan w/ my Sidekick 2. At times, the signal drops, but most of the time I get good signal (3-4 bars). The GPRS is a bit slow at my house however. I literally have to go to the top floor to use it sometimes. This may be just the phone though. For the price, you really can't beat it.
