Damn, if they haven't found the plane by now the chances of a rescue are slim to none. Damn, that sucks so badly, I can't imagine what the families are doing, not knowing where their loved ones are, not knowing if they are alive or dead. Ug, I can't fathom the feelings that they are going through.

They were flying along the equator, which is the most turbulent air space on earth. (where the north and south hemisphere meet, the place where the world biggest storms brew).

In the video posted above they mentioned that the plane basically had wi-fi controls so the main computer sends wireless signals to the engines/rutters/etc instead of having it hardwired, so perhaps a lightning strike may have disrupted that system... Though they mentioned that they could manually override that fly by wire system, something really jacked up must of happened that they aren't sharing with us for some reason.

I really hope they are found alive somewhere via crash landing, but that seems like a very, VERY long shot, but lets hope that they at least find the crashed plane if it did indeed crash into the ocean so that the families can get closure and so they can find the black box so that they can correct the error for future planes.

The passengers, their families and loved ones are in my prayers tonight.

Come on, it's an Airbus. No one should be horribly surprised that it fell out of the sky.

Plane crashes rarely happen, if you compare it to cars on the road, it'd be like 1 10,000 cars. There are more deaths from car accidents per year, but no one is afraid to drive. I don't think it causes warrant for 'freaked out' IMO.

What freaks me out was that they were "out of radar range". I didnt know that was possible...I thought planes were tracked throughout the flight.

They were talkin about lightning or something striking the plane and interfering with transmissions and electrical issues. ><

apparently the non military airline radar coverage is spotty. especially over water.

i heard there's a spot that it leaves brazilian ATC and then it goes blackout then the european ATCs get them later...

weird...

the french gov was asking for US help to see if the US satellites have picked up anything...
