Anyone able to help ship a car to Las Vegas from San Jose?

Hey guys my friend has a 1994 Mazda Rx-7 that he needs to get towed to Vegas for a rebuild.

He has no car to tow it with and was hoping someone could help us get it there. He has 3 options:

1. Rent a uHaul with trailer, cost:1300
2. uShip, looks sketchy-$400
3. Rent trailer on craigslist for 30 a day and a truck off enterprise for 160 a day, cost:800 (4 days)
4. Rent trailer off craiglsist for 30 a day and borrow a car to tow it with, cost-$120 for trailer and free car borrowing (lol) (4 days)

5. Have someone on iclub hook him up with a tow or a towing company that would do it for cheap

Anyone know how to get it there cheap? My friend would pay but just not too much. Would really like some hookups if possible..

Pull the motor and throw it in the back of your car.

So he wants to spend the money for a rebuild ( hopefully not a cheapo backyard rebuild since he's going all the way to Sin City ) but doesnt want to pony up for a tow? Come on now...... Did he ask for a hookup on said rebuild too?

Also, why not just have it rebuilt here? Yes yes yes, it's a rotary, but it's far from impossible. The Shop in San Bruno could handle that rebuild no problem..... Hell if he wants to go out of state pull the motor and send it to Corksport. Shipping/towing a block < shipping/towing a car. Do they need the whole car for a rebuild? Like said before, pull the block and put it in a truck or your own car if need be.

This is what I would do.

Either that or I'd go on Craigslist and buy a decent car trailer. Sell it when you're done. Be a lot cheaper than the other options.

As for shipping a car... for that distance $4-600 is about right.

He's afraid to pull the motor. Its difficult to play with getting in and out.

This ordeal is costing him about 4k total. he barely has enough. The rebuild is about 3200 and the 800 is set aside for transportation. To vegas, back from vegas, to vegas again, and back home again once he gets the car.

He wants to go to vegas because the guy there has a very good reputation and good pricing. He would go to rotorsport, ricks rotary, and mr. mazda, but they all charge a lot, (2k+ more) and some of them just throw in a mazda reman which uses questionable parts for the rebuild.

The guy is installing the clutch for free and making sure everything is ok under the hood since we messed a few things up replacing all the vacuum hoses before

talking to them now. They wont rebuild the motor (not many people want to since its difficult).

They want to charge 1200 for the labor of swapping a new motor in. He would have to get the motor himself for $2500 and get the car there etc...

ROTORSPORT, MAZDA Service & Repair: Pistons & Rotarys alike!
Local Rotary specialist with a good rep.

FYI - Enterprise won't rent anything for towing unless it's for Commercial Use. Ie you'll need a certificate of insurance for a business on file

LS is plenty cheap because if he ends up getting his motor built for 4-5k...It's just gonna blow up again anyways. Might as well get it done right in the first place.

Sorry guys no mean to be rude or unappreciative but I was just asking for anyone who could help a hookup on shipping.. My friend has already weighed all the benefits and cons of the 13B and LS and chose to stay with the rotary.

We've contacted the shops around the Bay area (Rotorsport, Mr. Mazda, and Ricks Rotary +more) and found them to be too expensive. The trip to vegas and back will be cheaper than getting it done locally, plus the vegas guy is well known on the rx7 forums as well.

Also many people say the shops around here usually just drop a reman motor in (as I said before) instead of rebuilding it.
