anybody up to help with a spring install this weekend?

I've got replacement front springs and smaller bumpstops to put on my STI, I'd kinda like to do it this weekend. Is anybody up for helping?

I don't have every single tool that's needed, namely the thru-socket needed for the top nut on the strut, and a torque wrench with 140lbs capacity to torque down the lower strut bolts.

I'll provide lunch/beer whatever.

Who's in?

Hey Justin. I might be able to lend you a hand. I have a torque wrench that goes that high. The only thing is that I have auto-x school this Sunday. Other than that, I have almost all the tools you need except for the thru socket thingy. Air compressor/impact wrench, I think, is a little quicker.

I'm in to help if you're driving up here. I have plenty of Subaru install chores to take care of this weekend, so adding yours to the list won't hurt a bit.

PM me if you're interested and in the North Bay (or interested in driving to the North Bay). Otherwise, we're planning an install day sometime next month.

I'm in Palo Alto, but willing to travel

jinorazi, where are you? do you have the other tools?

kevin, I'd like to do it saturday, so if you can help that'd be great. This isn't a big job, once we get the car in the air it shouldn't take more than an hour a side if we have all the tools, and don't get stuck putting the spring/strut back together.

Roo, thanks for the offer, but that's a bit too far to drive on a bum alignment, unless you know of a quality alignment shop open on weekends...where I could get it aligned after we're done.

Has anyone ever swapped bumpstops before?

the bumpstops are easy once u have the springs/strut tops removed. they'll slide off the shaft of the shocks. yes, i said shaft.

also, you do NOT need spring compressors for this job. even if u aimed the thing at ur face its not going to shoot off like hondas/acuras will.

i would help u take em off, as i have all the necessary tools, but i dont have time this weekend.

i'm located in the 925 area, concord, pleasant hill, walnut creek.

i use my buddy's impact drill any time i work on my car but he wont let me borrow it. so all i have is just spring compressors, jack and stands i can use for what you want to do...majority of my tools are small tools for car electronics.

anyhow, palo alto is a bit far from here, i wont mind helping but i already have things planned for my only day off (friday).

i did my suspension twice without compressors(stubborn), i sweat a bucket per front springs and i end up wanting to beat someone because its so frustrating...so on my 3rd, i went and bought it.

I have pass through sockets that you can borrow as long as you don't trash them :-P

Our local Big O Tires does a decent job, which will get you going just fine until you want to custom spec your alignment. Heck, they've set up a spec alignment before with our numbers...
