looking for a tranny upgrade for 02 wrx. also, if anyone knows where to get 800cc injectors and a roll cage for cheap.

Its a joke, I think. 5MT with a broken gear during drag racing = 4MT drag tranny.

thats what i have to. 1,2,4,5 broke third after running at infineon last wednesday.

 

4EATs don't have a 5th gear

no but seriously, i am looking for an upgraded manual tranny either a rebuild or maybe a ra tranny.

 

dont bother with a ra gear set, hasnt been proven to handle any higher horsepower loads then a stock wrx gear set. (someone iwll flame me for that). Alot of the gear exploding issues have to do with the transmission case flexing witht he amount of power that is being pushed thru them. ESP between shifts (when the tq on the tranny subsides then picks back up again with a hard jolt, at least if your shifting "sporty")

i my self was planning on getting another 5speed with some supa dupa custom bracing put in it with extra strong bolts and doodads to test this theory out.

But of course i want to go a bit fastar in the 1320 (a 6 speed adds another shift).


If your looking for longevity and the smart move get a 6 speed.

if your dumb broke, and like to try things out cause you pretend its because your doing it for the greater good (but your realy to broke to affor d a 6 speed) then get a 5 speed and be prepared to replace it every now and then.



My suggestion to you

if you can swing it go with a 6 speed.

if your broke drive your 5speed smart and it will last a while (mine lasted 2 years) and only after a stupid move by me did it go boom.

get the 6mt. best mod EVAR, ask anyone who has one, i love mine and think it made the already cool wrx an even better car.

(except razzin cause he whines about the jdm gears not allowing as high of a top speed )

I have this Taiwanese Options magazine where they compare the wrx and the STi in every area. The section on comparing the 5 vs 6 speed tranny is awesome.
