"More recently, it has become very popular in San Francisco, which now consumes more Fernet per capita than any other locale in the world."

hell yeah Fernet kicks butt! Plus if you ask for it at bars the bartenders r normally impress that you know about it and r willing to give u a free shot...UNLESS UR UGLY then no free shot for you....OR if your with an ugly chick then no shot for UGLY GIRL....You just tell that chick to go back to the circus and make the bartender laugh then u get a free drink....hahha
Yes - been a Fernet drinker for years now. It's also sort of a good barometer of a bar tender or a bar - if they have it then chances are they know their shat..
And yes, when you feel that you have shoved too much booze down your throat and the eject button will be hit soon, it can often calm the storm. Digestif to the t.

San Francisco eh...
When at one of these bars and ordering a Fernet, is it customary to use a strong lisp and wink at the bartender? Let me guess, these are really popular in Key West Florida as well.
lol...just kidding. Never had it. Although it sounds like it tastes like Jager (chicks love that stuff). I'd rather drink mud.

I drink one a day. I work in the restaurant business and consumption of Fernet grew out of that. All the restaurant crews (front and back of house) finish our evenings off with a (several) Fernet and Ginger Back. In fact, there are two bottles sitting in my bar as we speak!
Fernet is a digestiv. Great to settle the stomach and takes the edge off without getting you all fuched up.
