Any tips on swapping the engine out on my L?

Well the furious 1.8L is no longer. It runs but the bottom end is damaged. Anyway, it's time to swap something else in. I'm in the market for an EJ22.

1. Does anyone know of a good place to get used engines, that will run for a while, and are relatively inexpensive?

2. Any tips on keeping track of wires / plugs / etc, and things to do and not to do when swapping the engine out?

TIA and good luck with your cars. This engine failure came out of NOWHERE!!! I mean one minute im driving along like I normally do, the next I'm limping home with a fux0red bottom end. Oh well **** like this always happens when you least expect it.

I think Kostamojen did a EJ18 ---> EJ25 swap, his write up is the first sticky in the conversion forum, you should check it out.

We have some here at the shop, they are take-outs from when we do EJ20 conversions. I have a couple early EJ22's as well as later ones and a EJ25 or two

Why don't you just switch the bottom end with a ej25, and use the emissions stuff from the 1.8

You wont' get the max power from the 2.5 but you'll definately get more than a 1.8
