Here is the viper 971XV

http://www.directed.com/security/vip..._responder.asp

and here is the clifford rsx3.5rs

http://www.clifford.com/matrix/responder/default.asp

they are basically the same thing, they just have different remote design. They both have about 1/4mi range. which is plenty. Any longer distance, if your alarm goes off you car or your stuff int he car will be gone by the time you get to your car.

They are both manufactured by same company DEI.(directed)
I've had the clifford on my s2k before and i liked it alot.

there are many other companies that many 2-ways but i see no reason to use them, DEI's been making alarms for years and the price is very reasonable.

audiomobile says...

alan and bao from audiomobile, in oakland, told me that they are interested. they said it would start at around 500 for the viper of clifford installed. if we can get more guys together then the price will be reduced accordingly. they also highly recommended Compustar.

I know alan from audiomobile. I've had them do a custom fg box for my s2k there.

as for compustar it's a good unit but no any better then clifford or viper. they have longer range but i dont' see how anything longer then 1/4 mi is affective.

I'm pretty sure as long as we're all agreed on one alarm unit additional options won't be too much of a hassel.

I'd be interested. I'm looking to get the Viper 791xv. It'd have to be a hell of a deal though, since I'd be coming from the Monterey area

Can you work with cars that have a transponder key for remote start? (02 Dodge Ram)
