Would you be speaking of Sulphur Creek Rd. or the Bartlett Springs Rd. extension that comes down behind the fire station in CLO?

We beat Lower Lakes' x-country team rather regularly, as I remember it back in the day. They only had flatland to compete on, and when they came up to our x-country course, they couldn't manage Sand Hill.

I attended the 21 year reunion picnic on Aug. 1st...

...to give you an idea of how long it's been.

 

I think that is the road but one of my favs was Sigular(spelling) Canyon Creek going up to Cobb I would drive it 5 days a week when I was in school since I worked on Cobb and lived in Lower Lake, i know that road way to well. Very fun drive when you don't get behind someone!

Well I beat K-ville by myself in golf and all but 2 people in x-county :P and you know they are now the cowboys not the Indians :P But I've been gone for umm 3 years :P

I'd be down for that ride on a weekend. But there's no way I can make it after work on a weekday. I'm sure we'll work it out.

Yes, Seigler Creek Rd. is a great road.
I think they use that on the 100 MILE Konocti Challenge loop. They take you into Cobb for the large bike loop. I'm not up for that climbing game...not yet.

 

I have me a 2010 1.2 Trek Alpha, a beginner road bike for a beginner rider lol...I'm down to ride with u guys. I'm located in south san jose. Me and my friends are down as well. I also have a 3700 trek mountain bike if any yall down to go mountain biking as well.

 

Guys with fancy bikes!! I have a Giant OCR3 beginner bike as well, with carbon fiber crank and clip pedals. Yes, the CF DOES make it stronger - so when I am climbing, standing on the pedals, my fat a** doesn't break the pedals or crank.

 

I would really enjoy going on a ride with you guys. I'm also a beginner, I have a specialized allez from 2006, that I can ride for maybe 40miles at the most for session. Im not sure if my *** can handle anything with greater distance than that without serious next day issues.
That being said... unfortunately Im only available to ride on sun, mon, or tue.

 

I just did an impromptu ride yesterday from the Golfland in Milpitas to Alum Rock park and back.......man i'm outta shape!

Also realized how important drafting really is in group rides

 

That's the exact ride I did with my buddies, its super fun. Plus you get to excercise then get drunk, its a win win! Plus you don't have to drive so its awesome.

I hella like the giant ocr's. The first road bike I ever rode was a ocr2 and I loved it. I ended up getting a fuji roubaix just because I got a good deal on last years model but I hella like giant bikes.

 

I know this is my first post...

I'm a roadie...cat 2 racer. But I'm not a "road snob", which annoys the hell out of me, and I obey traffic. I'm on the east coast so won't be able to ride with you. Regarding drivers and bikers, all I can say is that I obey all laws and find I get more respect from drivers doing so. If I roll to a 4 way stop with cars there and they see I'm stopping, 99% of the time they'll wave me through. Courtesy & respect go a long way.

As for upgrades, like everyone said stick with what you have until you feel you've outgrown them. From there the single best upgrade you can do to a bike is a wheelset. Save up for a good pair of wheels and it will make a world of difference; no other single upgrade (exept a new frame) will make as much of a difference.

I ride a custom team issue Ridley Excalibur frame (carbon) with a mixed Campagnolo group, and use Ritch 58mm carbon fiber tubular wheels for racing. I train on a Powertap rear wheel and a Ksyrium front wheel.

If anyone ever wants to ride close to San Mateo/Peninsula, hit me up. I spin anywhere from South SF to Cupertino on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Ahh the beauty of training for a century! I can always use some company and, if you're any good at drafting, I can pull you all day long if needed (the plus to being a 6'2" 200+ roadie)

 

6h 18m until the course opens around the lake. Pleiad7 will be taking pictures of the riders in the 100k/100mi. course, and taking some video of the climbing involved. The course map says only 2200' of elevation change in this, but I think they fail to take into account the downhill, then the next uphill, since it's gaining the same elevation...

...or is it that I previewed the course two weeks ago, and it's looking a lot longer/harder than I remember it?
