Any i-clubbers use Waze app for iPhone?
I'm kinda behind the times...I know the Waze app is pretty old, but I just downloaded it a couple of weeks ago for my iPhone 5S...the mapping app works like a charm and I dig how you can see other "wazers" on the road ahead or behind you. (as well as accidents, police, construction, police...and police)
be kinda cool if every i-clubber installed this and we can all see each others whereabouts instead of "randomly" running into each other and posting on the Bay Area Sightings thread.
I haven't sign-up yet...but will probably just use my handle here..makes sense.

I used to use it, but found the navigation part a bit off.
I am sure since Google acquired them it has gotten better, but the directions it used to give me wasn't always the most accurate / quickest.
Just like you mentioned though, I did like the social aspects of it.
Another nice feature is that you can share your location with someone and they can view it real time.

I read that Waze drains your battery like no other because the GPS never goes off or something like that. Can anyone confirm this? Also how accurate do the police positions seem to be? I ride with a friend to Tahoe with Waze and it always reports police where theyre not.

You can turn off waze. (sleep mode)
As for the accuracy it all depends on the people who are reporting them. The app does it's best to calculate where the police is depending on how far the driver was when they tagged the cop.
If you don't see the cop there chances are they already left. It's up to the drivers to update that their not there.

I use Waze everyday, it tends to help with my daily commute. i regularly add alerts/hazards etc to 'get them points'.
Yeah, agree it'd be cool to aggregate a bunch of i-clubbers. if you want to add me, my handle is " AspenWhite06 ". yeah, a creative one i am...
@jrandy--totally know what you're saying about the directions being weird. What i recommend for any Wazer, in that case, it to teach the computer the better way. Meaning, drive the way that you know is better. it takes a few weeks of you telling it the best way, and eventually the logic reports back to the servers and it updates it. Remember, it's crowd-sourced knowledge!

Also with the new updates you can send someone your ETA based on their traffic data. They've added a few things with the last two updates.

indeed WAZE eats your battery due to constantly being a beacon for the GPS. With my commute SJ to San Carlos, my battery goes down to 75%...I accidentally did not use sleep mode when I stepped into the office and my battery went down 50% by noon. So yeah...sleep more or just exit the app.
WAZE's road hazards, police sitings, traffic are DEPENDENT of the users leaving them. You see these signs way ahead on your map so it's not like you'll be surprised that a cop is someplace that a WAZER did not report....well unless the cop just rolled onto the freeway and no WAZER spotted them.
All hazards/police sitings pop up as you are approaching so you either "confirm" the siting or not...this is how sitings are updated "real time". It works great!
You can add pics or videos of accidents, other WRXs etc while you drive.
The only thing I see that can be annoying is the WAZER icon you see on the map..you have to tap on it in order to see their profile name...so you'd have to constantly be tapping all the icons to find out who is who....UNLESS, you add the WAZER to your friend list...then maybe you can see their profile name immediately?...I don't know.
I'll add you guys: Soggynoodles, AspenWhite06
guys..I just created a Wazer group called "i-club"....created by TerenceMT aka "02WRXwgn" Feel free to add me and/or group
trying to figure out how to add your profile/screen names..so far only contacts from FB and Twitter (and Foursquare).

i use waze on my major road trips, LA, Tahoe etc and for the most part it does its job. I've been using it for the past couple years, at first it sucked, the GPS was horrible but now its actually a really good APP.

update: ok, can't seem to add users/profiles...I think if you guys add the "i-club" group I created, then we'll be able to "follow" each others.
I have it on my phone "not iPhone" but I think its the same we should start a gourp
