Any homebrewers out there?
The drinkin' in the shower thread got me wondering... any fellow homebrewers in the BAIC?
If so, where are your guys at? What local clubs are you a member of or do you know about? What are you currently brewing?
I've got an ESB in secondary and will likely be doing a Belgian Double next since it's set to start warming up soon. I might try and squeeze in a Double IPA first though. What are you guys brewing in the warmer months?

Mr. Beer kits aren't a bad way to get your feet wet. That's how I started several years ago. Mark my words though; if you start w/ Mr. Beer be prepared to soon move on to 5+ gallon batches.

That's what I said. Mr. Beer really is a good way to start/try it out though. I still use my Mr. Beer to try out new things without doing a full 5 gallon batch. I just started a Cider in my Mr. Beer about three days ago actually. We'll see how it turns out... it's my first stab at a cider. :/

Haha. When I have some easy cash to spend will do. Need to get the car's kinks ironed out first heh.
Is the cheapest Mr. Beer starting kit all you need to make your first microbrew? Or do you need other ingredients?
Was thinking of picking one up from Bevmo sometime this weekend heh. My dad seems intrested in the project as well, should be fun

It is and it isn't. It's a good way to learn the process and see that you really can make your own beer. The only aspect that's a little less than legit is the fact that the wort (mixture of malted grains and hopps) is pre made and you just add water and use sugar to "boost" the mix. The more legit method is to make your own wort by steeping gran, boiling hops, etc. Hell even the way I do it by steeping grains and using liquid malt extract isn't perfectly legit since the hardcore guys do full mash (malting the grains your self), which I don't have room for.
Mr. Beer takes pre made wort, adds sugar and yeast, and a couple of weeks later you have brown, carbonated, alcaholic liquid fit for drinking. Sounds legit enough for me.
Arya, the Mr. Beer kit sold at BevMo has everything you need in it with the exception of bottles. It tells you to use 2L bottles, but I would suggest 1L bottles if you have any.
