Any guidebooks on offroad trails?
I've already checked out Pashnit.com and saw the many roads one can drive and have tons-o-fun with our subys.
I was curious if anyone can recommend a guidebook or something in book form that would reference fun drives both on and offroad with ratings. Or do you all simply us a CA map, go by word of mouth, or surf the web while "working"..heh.

This is by FAR the best book/atlas that I've used. It was suggested to me by our own psoper.

Try these http://www.4x4books.com/ca.htm the Back Counrty Adventure books are very good and the Byways books are good also. They are mainly directed at guys wanting to take thier SUV's offroad but don't want to do the Rubicon. I have ridden my morotcycle on a lot of the routes described and the descriptions are pretty accurate. The easy routes would be doable in a suby. Heres a picture from one of the routes up around Fort Bragg. Thats me on the right. We saw all sorts of cars on this road, nothing a suby couldn't handle.

Some of these other books suggested give you a more detailed route selection with some local history, stories and things to look for.

I'm going to looking at the Benchmark book, Backcountry Adventures book and some others, but the Benchmark looks to be a must have.
Thanks again!
