Any Cingular BJ or 8525 users?
Looking to upgrade from my Nokia e62.
I've read almost everything on HoFo regarding the two but just wanted to see what you guys have to say.

cool, i can either get the bj for $150 or the 8525 for $400.
it is possible to use the $19.99 unlimited data plan with these phones, right? the store told me i had to go $39.99 when i buy the phone. i'm thinking i'll go with the $39.99 data plan initially so i can get my rebate from Cingular then drop it back down to $19.99?

I've got the older 8125 and aside from it's size, it's pretty kickass. The 8525 is nice in that it uses Cingular's newer 3G network for data access (much faster).

thanks guys. my available fundages will pretty much dictate which phone to get.
still a toss up though. 3g is my main thing and they both have it. never had a touchscreen so i guess that's why i wanted to try the 8525.

touchscreen phones are always a plus when u're dealing with a phone with so many features imo

I got an 8525 a few weeks ago. Best phone I've ever used IMO. Aside from its thickness it's great.
At first, I considered the BJ because of its slimness. Here's one thing: DON'T GET IT!. I hear the battery life is so horrible that the phone comes with two batteries. You can also contact Cingular and get the extended battery if you want, but still. Also, I had a Treo 650 before and I could not get used to the non-touch screen. I hear the camera is garbage too.
Now, onto the 8525. The phone is great except for its bulky brick-like size. The screen is average. The main reason I got this phone was because of its ability to be extemely modified. I've upgraded the radio on this thing (software) and the ROM (not even released by Cingular yet). You can also upgrade to WM6. You can install many many themes and wallpapers. The modding spree never ends! If you do decide on an 8525, head over to http://www.xda-developers.com/. I haven't really found the Wi-Fi very useful, but it is nice to have.
Another "con" of the 8525 is that the keyboard gets loose after a while, but I believe there is a fix for that.
Also about the 3G thing, you should take advantage of the Bay Area's wide coverage of 3G areas that other cities may envy.
If you have any other questions about the 8525 let me know.

Hey Juicy,
Come by GST before you buy your phone if you want to check out my 8525. I got this phone a week ago and I do love it. There are some cool features it comes with and some it comes without. I have prolly spent about 15 hours customizing it so far and its pretty close to being done. One of the neatest things, bluetooth 3G modem for your laptop. Took a bit to setup but now I can be anywhere and get online with my laptop wirelessly.

Thanks guys, been a little busy modding the BJ. But after only a few days, I'll be returning it for the 8525. There just wasn't enough stuff for me to mod and seems like from dSpec and Derek's posts, there's plenty for me to do to customize.
Battery life really wasn't an issue for me, the extended battery lasted me a day without problems. The slim, barely a day.
