Angry Stromung / South Coast Subaru - THUMBS DOWN!

*update*

So South Coast Subaru emailed me today and told me Stromung denied my warranty claim because "spring bolts" were not used to connect the midpipe to the downpipe. Well, the catback did NOT come with spring bolts. I don't even know what happened to them cause they're supposed to be stock. When I got my downpipe/uppipe installed @ MPJ, maybe they took them off? Cause when I installed a Bosal/SPT catback to the downpipe, there were NO spring bolts... just reg. bolts.

The guy even claimed that Scott from Stromung had called me when in fact HE DID NOT call or email me. W T F !

South Coast Subaru said "we could sell you a midpipe at a discount though, $145 instead of $175" He said I'm pretty much SOL.

I told him hell no was I going to pay for it.

Can any muffler shop weld the flange back onto the midpipe ?

this is how i feel

Cause my midpipe's flange that bolts onto the downpipe snapped off today while I was driving to get gas... this was during normal driving. It was hanging on the ground so I had to remove my entire catback before driving home to swap back my stock WRX exhaust...

If so, I'd like to get a replacement under warranty since it's only been 4 mo. since I've had it. Otherwise, I'll have to send it back down to SoCal to South Coast Subaru and let them deal w/ Stromung.... argh.

I know the dealership I dealt with in Thousand Oaks sells load of Stromung stuff and have not had any problems. Did you try calling up Stromung directly?

No, I haven't called up Stromung directly. I already emailed the vendor South Coast Subaru where I got it. I'll see what they say 1st before contacting Stromung.

Stromung is usually pretty cool about warrantying stuff. I had them make me a midpipe one time when I was in LA and needed it the same day. It all will depend on who you deal with.

The dude who runs Flash N Dash (found in the Venders section in ForSale) is a great guy to work with, very knowledgable and usually has all the Stromung exhaust parts in stock. I recommend contacting him instead of running around to dealerships, you'll give an independent small business some work and they do a great job.

And no, a JDM exhaust system is not a good alternative. I haven't had a problem with my Stromung catback + midpipe in the year I've had it on and I don't baby the car.

Good luck!

I second that. Isn't it completely different lengths? I think you'd have to do a bit of custom fab to fit it.

it all depends on what type of downpipe he's running. I personally think JDM exhausts look better than stromung. but thats just personal perference.

I'm running the helix downpipe. JDM is nice... but I prefer a stealthy dual tip look.
