The aftershocks are increasing in magnitude. Last one was a 2.3, before that a 2.2

4.2 was a pretty good one. Personally I prefer a whole bunch of little stress relief quakes opposed to; well ya know...

I was sleeping in a bed in South San Jose! The house shook up pretty damn good! It was definitely one that everyone felt in the house. My bed actually shook.

I felt it ~10:10am Right near San Jose Airport.

It wasn't a violent motion, but seemed to last for a really long time - ~30 sec

multiple small earthquakes are actually a sign of the opposite

The built up pressure is getting relieved small amounts at a time rather than in one big earthquake. They are not a "warning sign" for the big one.

My old geology professor said the opposite....
Think of the contenental plate as a picture hanging on a wall, and nails keep on breaking.

Of couse I also took that couse 10 years ago and memory could be hazy

I remember it as smaller quakes are the relief of pressure. The lack of any activity (such as the reservoir above San Mateo area) is a bigger threat because the pressure is building up on the fault. Kind of like breaking free a bolt, once you snap it free, all your force flies forward. But then again, my teacher was kind of retarded.

Unfortunately I sold my geology book a while ago.

EDIT: Seems like there are theories in both directions.
