Amgen Tour of California, Stage 3 ending in San Jose, who's going?
anyone going to stage 3? the finish is in front of city hall. im actually really wondering where a good place to park/watch would be? im not too familiar with san jose. but here is the course map: http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com...stage3-map.pdf
and race website: http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com...3.html#viewing
on the website it says st james park or city hall plaza would be good places to watch. where to park though? is there a nearby garage or should i just look for street parking?
i went and checked out the prologue in sf on sunday. it was a time trial that went from the ferry building to pier 37 and up to coit tower. it was awesome. a lot of fans were out and most of the big name pro's were riding. the ones i saw on their bikes: levi, big george, rassmussen, mcewan, ogrady, basso. phil, paul, and bobke were there. they had the big screens with motorbike cameramen following and everything. my buddy who has been to the tour de france said it was a lot like the european races so thats a pretty big scene. lots of new teams and new riders as well. one support vehicle that caught my eye was this bmw 540xi wagon in white with this pastel argyle paint job. looks like cycling has finally come to the states.

THese guys came right through davis today. My gf was stuck at an intersection because of the race, it's right outside her apartment. not cool having to wait there when people had to go to class or had midterms to study for.

Both are w/in easy walking distance for the last 3 recommended viewing sites. Check out this map for SJ downtown parking.

^ very cool site. yeah i just stayed at piedmont and sierra where the hardest climb of the tour started. that was quite a site. there were so many fans out. on versus coverage at night, it looked like the tour de france climbs where people are running with the riders and crowding them as they get to the king of mtn line.
