well, all of the things you guys have mentioned makes my blood boil. these freaking retards think that getting passed is like getting beat in a fight or getting "disrespected" or something. if you start to pass them, they will speed up. if you're behind them, it's their job to make sure you stay there. i want to drag each and every one of those people out of their car and beat them within an inch of their life. two lane roads are the worst. people REFUSE to use these things called turnouts. do you guys know what these are? because 99% of people here think they are when the paving people have too much pavement and have to use is all so they make the road a little wider in some spots. there are so many god awful drivers out there, it's just ridiculous. the worst part is that there is no end in sight. things will only get worse. sometimes i just want to be the one man enforcer and go nuts on people for being idiots.

you know what i want to do? install a big sign on the back of my car so that i can have different messages to put up for people who don't know how to drive. like when you pass that 30 something soccer mom in the megamonsterSUV talking on her cell phone, you can pass her and put up: HANG UP YOUR PHONE. C*NT.

or when you pass the meathead in the chevy pickup with 44s that's going 50 mph in the left lane because his engine can't get out of second gear because his tires are too focking big, you can put up, "get out of the left lane. JERKOFF."

or when the azzwipe in the bright yellow ford escape with tennesee plates cuts right in front of you on the freeway even though there are no other cars around and you're in the second lane, you can pull in front and put up, "pull your vehicle over so i can back over your skull a few times."

i could go on, but can we form some kind of civilian traffic squad where we pull over bad drivers, inflict pain, and teach people how to drive?
AMEN! i couldn't have said it better myself! it's funny that you mention the sign in the back of your car, because i've thought about doing that many, many times. it wouldn't take more than a four inch high, three foot wide scrolling LED sign, and some pre-programmed buttons. most of those signs have a couple of available presents, so when someone pissed you off you could just turn the sign on, hit the button, and express yourself.

In Germany (depending on how many lanes on the Autobahn) the Slow Big Rigs and Buses stayed in the #4 lane PERIOD.

The slower drivers and mid size trucks stayed in the #3 lane PERIOD because they're going a little faster then those in #4.

The #2 lane had your average drivers that occasionally punched the gas but were in no major rush PERIOD.

Finally, the #1 lane... not for the faint-hearted... this was for LUDACRIS SPEED PERIOD....if you didn't have an italian sports car or 500series Mercedes or something similar STAY THE F**K OUT!!! THERE WERE NEVER OLD PEOPLE IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE FAST LANE SAYING, "THOSE DAMN KIDS" AS THEY PUTTER IN FRONT OF YOU!!!!!

God I loved Germany... BTW every, and i mean every woman there seemed to be a 10 on the hottness scale when compared to US women. Holland was the same way too.. Nijmegen and Amsterdam Kick A$$...i wanna go back

A little FYI sidenote for those that live in Sacto Area. According to State Farm Insurance...The intersection of Arden and Fulton was ranked #10 in the nation for accidents... 1920ish reported accidents last year!!!

Also, for those that live out in the country Hwy 104 AKA Twin cities road ranked in the top 5 for worst HWYS.

Im shocked at this report

OK, as dropkick_muppet said:
oh, and anyone driving a Yukon/Suburban/Excursion thing with massive 20inch + chrome wheels can **** off how do they think they can haul that thing down from 80 in less than four football fields? having driven a Suburban to tow trailers, i know they don't stop on a dime.............the other people that can off are the people who don't realize that the gas pedal goes all the way to the floor when merging onto the freeway. when the metering lights are on, and traffic is moving at 70mph in the slow lane, the on ramp is a drag strip folks, plain and simple.
Yes, thats the problem....they DO THINK it WILL stop on a dime....Also....yes, when merging onto a fast moving freeway/highway....ATLEAST be going the same speed as the flow of traffic when merging! I cant stand the IDIOTS that are riding the brakes merging onto the freeway at 35 mph....or even worse yet....STOPPING and waiting for an opening in traffic!!! Do they not understand, that is very dangerous and could cause a bad pileup ppl.....GET A CLUE!!!!! GRRRRRR

and Concillian says:
I tend to think the solution to the slow people in the fast lane is to ticket for blatant disobedience of the 'slower traffic keep right' signs. But that will never happen.
OH MAN, I WISH!!!! That would be a wonderful implementation of our traffic laws!

Steppin Razor also said:
i could go on, but can we form some kind of civilian traffic squad where we pull over bad drivers, inflict pain, and teach people how to drive?
I'll glady join your squad! I would take great pride and joy in a job like that.

And SteveO:
you guys should be happy you don't have to deal with the roads in hawaii, i think it's a state pastime to drive side by side with another driver for miles at a time and lets not forget that the speed limit on most of the highways is 45 mph
Hawaii, is an island...there isnt a whole lotta room to go fast....besides, I dunno about you all...but when I go there, I am there on vacation and want to relax.....so I slow down the pace anyways....plus....hawaii, in general is a slower paced society...they all just have that whole laid back attitude over there....<shrug>

Finally Sisqocqk, I would also like to see ppl learn that they cannot just drive in any lane they choose....based on what they drive and thier personal driving style....ESPECIALLY when you see the JERK in a semi truck, or even a pickup towing a trailer....in the #2 lane (from the left)...grrrrrr, these morons should not be allowed to tow anything if they dont understand that the rules of the road state, that if towing a trailer (or semi trucks in general) are NOT supposed to drive in the left 2 lanes unless otherwise stated (like on 50 in Sac).... A semi, or an Auto with a trailer are supposed to stay in the slow lane....or are able to drive in the #3 lane....but are NOT supposed to be in the #2 or #1 lanes under any circumstances.....(hello ppl! thats why the signs say Semi's, and autos with trailers max speed 55) These ppl just have ZERO common sense....GRRRRRRRR

Also, I just wanna say, Sorry for hijacking the thread! I get all fired up when I start talking about this subject..... GRRRRRRR

to all the bad drivers discussed in this thread!

people like that need to be beaten with a rubber garden hose filled with #7 ball bearings while strapped to a hot metal chair with duct tape. the people that slow to 35 to merge, brake on onramps, or heaven forbid, stop on them just make me want to rip out my hair in clumps. no ammount of screaming, honking, bright flashing or bird flipping seems to get the message across to these people that what they're doing is *NOT* okay!

could go on, but can we form some kind of civilian traffic squad where we pull over bad drivers, inflict pain, and teach people how to drive?
sign me up, i'll even work double shifts! can we have special t-shirts that identify us as Civillian Traffic Enforcers, or somesuch?

heh, its our insane fascination with fast food that makes american women lower on the scale compared to women of other countries... whenever i travel outside of the states i am amazed at how well the women take care of themselves...

dont get me wrong... there are PLENTY of good looking american women...

you're right, most of the professional semi truck drivers are really good about following all the rules and driving politely. it's the guys who drive the box vans and work trucks that don't have special licenses or training that you have to watch out for.

Having not checked in for a few days, this topic is right up my alley. My fiancee always gets pissed off because I get SUPER PISSED while driving around with all these idiots.

My biggest pet peeves:

Slow, oblivious drivers in ANY lane, especially the #1 lane.
People that think getting passed is like losing a race
People that get pissed off when you flash your highbeams (because they're slowing you up.)
People that don't know how to park properly
People that don't use their turn signals(indicators)
When the freeway is empty and you pass someone, they speed up to match or even exceed your speed but then realize they're going faster than they really want to be going(while you continue along at your predetermined speed)
People that get over to let you pass, but then immediately get back into the #1 lane

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's more

I agree with you... i was only refering to the Autobahn as a drivers paradise compared to the USA hwy system.

If you ever go their you'll know what i mean... it's as if all the Europeans were taught decency and respect for others' busy/not so busy lives in drivers training.

**I wish they could design a sensor system that automatically detects when those A$$hole delivery guys are in the left lanes Via Satelite and automatically cut the engine when they've been in the fast lane for more than 10seconds.

Either that or they should make it a lot harder to get a license...everyone should have to goto a 12month drivers bootcamp during the summer when they're in Highschool...
...Smoke the crap out of all the little chits with some push-ups and flutter-kicks and then teach them respect for other drivers, basic mechanics and some cool driving manuvers on the side.

It was Fair Oaks and Howe Avenue btw, not Arden and Fulton, and thats the same stoplight I have to sit at for 10 minutes during traffic time...

However, I dont see what the fus is about. Ive only seen one accident there in two years. I think that red light camera helps, but still some folks insist on cutting it too close.

Maybe the accidents occur from the people who STOP in the merge lane instead of just keep going? Thats like one of my MAJOR pet peeves... You have to merge AT SPEED in order to safely merge, not stoped or even 20mph under the speed that everyone else is going!

I didn't even read the whole thread -- I'll get too upset. Going slow in the passing lane should be equal ticket-wise to breaking speed limits or drunk driving. Why isn't it like that? ...Fill up the limping '52 Ford pickup with lawn care equipment and drive 45 in the passing lane.

ok, ok, ok, My bad guys....That is very true...I do agree with that.....but even in the industry....occasionally there are the careless a$$holes that just dont get it..... But for the most part, I stand corrected.

Also as dropkick_muppet said:

SOOOOO TRUE! I have to deal with THOSE types every day on my way to work. GRRRRR They are the ones that think their Box truck will fit into a normal parking spot.

Eastbaysubaru:
People that don't know how to park properly
THAT is one of my BIGGEST peaves of all time! THOSE ones are all at my apartment complex....I will park on an end spot, hugging the line next to the curb (where the planter is) leaving PLENTY of room to park the friggin Titanic in there, and some A$$HOLE pulls into the spot next to me in a 300zx (old one), and parks crooked, and HELLA CLOSE to my beloved Subi! Parked ON the line closest to me with like 50 feet on the other side of the car! GRRRRR, C'mon, it takes what.....2 seconds to back up and straighten out?!

Sysqocqk's satellite GPS ticketing system sounds like a great Idea! they DO have the technology to implement that one....hmmmm we should submit that one to the governor.....

I think this topic pretty much gets everyone going, no one likes dealing with annoying people or stupid people.

My top annoyances are:
Not passing trucks -
Everyday on highway 17 there are folks that for some, completely, and utterly absurd reason, fear the truck that they want to pass.
They fear it so bad that they sit back just behind it OR NEXT TO IT IN ITS BLIND SPOT for miles waiting for that long enough (to their short-sighted, tunnel vision) straightaway that they can use to build up enough speed(IN THEIR 200HP BMW, ETC) to pass the truck "safely".
Of course the reality is, in about 2-3 seconds, on a sharp turn even, in a Yugo, they could blow passed the slow 35mph 120K lb sand truck and be free and clear.
Instead they slow everyone down, risk their lives and others by dilly dallying around trying to get up the courage to pass, and when they do, they often CUT OFF THE BIG RIG when and if they bother to move into the right lane.
It is so completely stupid, and yet it happens everyday, and yet somehow I still can't believe people are like this.
I have actually considered designing a nice banner that you could print and put in your upper windshield that says, backwards even, so it can be in the mirror of the nice person in front of you, "PASS THE TRUCK ALREADY!!!!".

Next is aggressive speeder person in something like a full size van but it could be any car.
There I am driving along at a good clip above the limit in the left lane, here comes some slow folks, I slow down and wait patiently for them to sort their **** out and here comes a flying large object in the rear view right up my ***.
Nice to see you in a hurry fast person, as you can clearly see there is nowhere to go right now, Im stuck here too.
Then comes the aggressive tailgating, or maybe light flashing.
Huh, you think those 8 cars in front of me are gonna just some how magically find somewhere to go so you can go faster even if I had some place to move aside too?
Then they dart right, zip up a few cars only to block themselves in.
Then they end up behind me again, and continue to act stupid.
This is especially nice behavior on like hwy 85 when you can plainly see cars in all lanes, stacked up for oh 2 miles.
Maybe, eventually, we break free of the crowd, and I being the nice, and far more safe driver, move over, and let them get on with their bad selves.
Then I end up behind them for a while. Then they get stupid and box themselves in again and suddenly Im in front again. Great.
So after more tailgating and stupidty I move over hoping they will just drive off into the sunset.
But no.
Now it is time for mountain twistys.
Suddebly Im in front again, off into the left lane and taking turns real nice in my AWD Subaru.
What is this? I slow for traffic and here they come again.
More obnxious behavior and gestures cause they want to be in front and go fast.
Sure. You go ahead and get in front of me cause I know your 4K lb van can outperform my sportscar in the mountains.
Now Im behind again and funny, they are slowing me down.
Note that this doesn't only happen with big vehicles, sometimes those nice Z4s or 350Zs come flying up to pass me only to brake to 35 in the turns, get passed by me at 70 on the inside lane, only to come flying up behind me in the left again in time to slow down for the next turn.
If the folks with the high performance cars can't even maintain their speed in a turn, they shouldnt be allowed to buy the car. What is the point of owning something that can do 1.2Gs if you can't even hold a line good enough to do .3 or even go the speed limit?
It just seems so wasteful.
And sad. Don't forget sad.
