well the footage doesnt have the silly fisheye look like the HD GO PRO.
but then there are other trade-offs... like mounting systems. user interface (if you thought the GO PRO had a crappy one...). support???...

Although it results in a fisheye effect when the video is smooshed into the standard video aspect ratio, it's more ideally suited for the applications the GoPro is used for... extreme sports.
The one you linked looks like a 80 degree view angle, which you would find misses a lot. However, it does look like a pretty interesting cam for just $55.

720 isn't 1080
but as you said- for $55,
...you could split screen 4 of them for less than a GoPro
No such thing as Full HD. you are either in HD or you're not.
When the ATSC specs were finalized 720p and 1080i were.the 2 choices broadcasters went to.
ABC/Disney went with 720p due to.them owning ESPN and because of the nature of fast moving sports went with the progressive scanning.
Fox, NBC, CBS and PBS went with 1080i. Why? They said it gave a better picture with the reasoning more lines is better...
Man its more than a decade.ago I picked up my first HDTV. Funny that it "converted" everything to 1080i. So I never really experience 720p natively. Early reports said that CBS had a better.picture whenit.came to Sunday football. Of course CBS may have had better hardware at.the time.
These days 1080p... or even 4k resolution is the latest.buzz words going around. Last couple years or so i heard somewhere in Japan they are testing Super HD which is twice.of 1080i...
Me? I am satisfied with either ATSC specs...

Googled It and found It true, they are going to come out with a new format. But how long will It take before the majority of the TV stations pick It up

60fps is overkill on most home set ups and makes everything seem slower. I have my go pro set up at 960 tall at 30 and it comes out killer and doesn't blow through memory for no reason. Im not making stuff for the big screen.

Yea I've recorded on my contour both 60fps and 30fps, the 30fps is smoother the majority of the time.

i couldnt tell a diff when they A/B'ed from 1080i and 1080p...
now, i dont know if anyone watched the TORC series shown on HD THEATER on comcast's HD channels. the series was captured using RED cameras. these suckers have the capabilities to capture up to 4 THOUSAND LINES OF RESOLUTION!!!! 4k!!!!!
i would use the 60fps (and higher) if i were to record footage exclusively to do slow motion stuff...
