obviously were not getting the whole story here regarding yourself and your friend. details are very important in any police encounter as can be read in any police report. just to name a few things: date, time, specific location, how many people involved, crowds, your clothing, attitude. The officers original reason for talking to you, how many officers present, was there a complaint from another party, and a whole host of other things that change whats going on every situation.
so please provide more information before we judge ourselves what was "justified"

there are the ups and downs, n blacks and whites about almost everything in this world.

if you really think about it you can kinda make a video just as sympathetic and powerful as this with any type of occupation, not that im against the video in any way, its a good video

i guess im sort of a "neutralist" in a lot of my opinions with things in life..and stick with both sides, maybe thats why i dont post much on the forums.. especially baic haha.

Before I answer your questions - please explain to me in accordance to law where police officers are allowed to take your wallet(s) and/or property and not have to explain to you why they did so.

Answer that and I will answer you.

I guess you miss the boat. Cops just dont do things to do them. For them to do something, You would have had to done something for them to have a reason. WHAT DID YOU DO? Maybe he was trying to I.D. you. Without your details no one can know.

If you have a run in with the police. Then you were doing something wrong. Police have better things to do then just bug you for fun.

Ah, yes... The "you must have done something wrong and deserved it" argument.

I guess I deserved my wallet taken from me and called a "lying gook" because I had it coming.

Fine. Unlike many, I know reality isn't what we see on TV.

Stuff happens. As stated - I learned from the experience.

People are people, after all. Some could handle the power [given]. Some couldn't. That's how it is sometimes.

Bad things happen whether you asked for it or not.

Rest well if that makes you feel better.

For those cops out there among our bay area i-club community, I just like to say, "I appreciate what you do. Not everybody hates cop."

And so do I.

There's this one outstanding officer that patrolled my high school (Galileo), by the name of Bob Tran.

He is one of the best law enforcement officers I've had the pleasure of dealing with - keeping the school safe from hoodlums and making sure troublemakers aren't making it difficult for those of us that just want to enjoy our HS days.

That's not to say that there aren't malicious badge-wearing, power-tripping, egotistical douches out there.

Work in the field and you will find that with todays world of cell cams and bugdet cuts. Police really have more then thay can handle to be out and about just being random and stopping you. For someone to stop you there has to be a reason. Otherwise you could hire a fancy lawyer and go after them. Do you know everytime you are stopped there is a record. Even with dispatch runs your info, plate, DL ,SS# there is a record and there better be a good reason for the hit.

Also... I will point out. I had a run in with phpd back in the day. But he thought he had a reason. I took him and the dept to court. I won... To this day I stay out of ph or limit my time and its been least 15 years.

Every field is going to have good and bad. When you find the bad and chose to do nothing about it, You have more to the story you are not telling, Or you are just as at fault for not doing something about it. If you have a soild story then file a complant, and follow thru with it. Otherwise quit *****ing about it.

Who's *****ing? No one's whining, other than voicing a rather unpleasant experience and pointing out the fact that not all cops are honorable. The stress is part of the job and is expected, but should not be an excuse to abuse their power.

Also, the attempt was made (read post #10 again), but never got far as we were told to leave the precinct and threatened jail time, along with the racial slur.

.. or, most people are purely deterred from doing anything about it simply because of the bureaucracy of the whole process.

To the poster who stated that they choose to lower standards for police officers to widen the applicant pool: Do college lower their standards to get the best pick of the litter? There are tons of brilliant non-driven individuals out there too who never make it to school, and that's how it should be.

All you're doing is allowing the lazy/unmotivated/un-intelligent/and the worthy the same chance at a position that obviously requires a lot from an individual, including patience, rational thinking and other social skills/qualities that are highly correlated to individuals who have endured higher education programs (education being a signaling factor now days).

I know plenty of fire departments that require 4 year degrees as part of the application, and they don't carry guns or pull people over...
