Cool Alaskan Coming to Ukiah and Monterey!

Cross-post from NASIOC & FT86Club (thanks to Concillian):

Hey guys. I have a family reunion in Ukiah on Saturday, May 11th. I'm driving my BRZ down from Alaska. I plan on checking out Monterey before I meet up with the family. If any of you guys wanna do a quick meet, I'd love to hang out! Taking pictures of non-Alaskan rides would be awesome!

I plan on being in California by May 8th or 9th since I'll be stopping by Seattle first, maybe Portland, and I want to drive a bit of the coast. I'll be moving on to Chandler, AZ (possibly by way of San Diego) and Denver, CO on Monday, May 13th.

Let me know if there are any cool local events going on during the week of May 6th up in the North and who would like to meet up to just talk cars or whatever. If there's a local shop that's open after hours that would be awesome, too! It doesn't have to be a big event, but would be fun to do something unexpected, ya know?

Anyways, let me know what's up and thanks!

- Chano

Hopefully I get a chance to meet some of you guys while I'm down there. I'm mostly just going to cruise, so it's not like I'll be terribly busy. I just need to make sure my drive time is more approximate.

May 8th is a Wednesday so come on out to a local meet here in the SF bay area. We usually get dinner and than hang out till around midnight. Have fun on the drive down. There is some pretty country between Alaska and California.

I drove up Highway 1 from San Jose to Vancouver back in October, it's quite the scenic ride, with enough straits to let you take in the scenery, and enough curves in places to have fun with. Enjoy the trip, and like queeg9k said do check out the Wednesday meet in Fremont.

Ukiah is a pretty cool town actually. I spent quite a bit of time there for work. Some excellent roads and scenery just in that area.

I haven't been in California for almost 7 years, so I'm definitely anxious to be there doing my own thing with the car I love.

The Wednesday meet sounds pretty cool! I'll schedule that in. It'll give me something to commit beforehand. I'll be exchanging numbers and info when we get closer to the date. I know some of you guys don't plan that far in advance, but some of us do, so I'll just keep bumping this thread.

Thanks for all the input! I'm hoping to check out this community a bit. Surprised I never joined before in all these years. Probably because I'm in Alaska.

Wednesday night meet in Milpitas is where you want to be at. There's usually at least 15 cars at any given time, and throughout the night with people coming and going, probably more like 30-40 cars. People are cool.

Have a safe drive down here!

Also, not that you mind, since you'll be driving forever and a day anyway, but Monterey is a little over an hour and a half from the Wednesday night meet, and I think Ukiah is probably 3-4 hours north of Monterey, at least.

Also, go to the aquarium. For God's sakes. It's awesome.

I was making the drive to and from Ukiah every week for a few months. Even in traffic, it is about 2hrs from SJ, so yes, Monterey would be between 3-4.

I've been to the aquarium and it is magnificent! I haven't been for 14 years, though, so I definitely plan on going again.

I'm definitely keeping time and distance in mind with this trip. Hopefully no huge accidents block my routes. Oh well, though, if it does happen.

Slow and steady wins the race. haha

The aquarium is def better than the one in SF. I think its kinda expensive tho. Its like $35 bucks per person.
