air fields

Does anyone happen to know where there are any abandoned air fields around here that are open to people. I was just thinking of safe places to go and have some fun with the cars.

It isn't open for free, but the Marina airport (near Monterey) does rent out their helicopter tarmac for Autocross events

wasnt there a closed airfield somewhere around Livermore or something? someone else mentioned it before. it had like 13,000ft runways or some **** like that....
