ahh my paint!

there are some spots on my car where it feels as if something ate a layer of the paint. so some spots are smooth and some rough. last weekend i washed, claybared, and waxed teh car so i dont know why i would feel roughness on the car. also on my headlights i see and feel a thin film of some stuff. i tried using goo gone but that didnt work. help please?

Hopefully you didn't use the claybar too harshly, I thought those can damage paint if you're not careful.

large bug splats, and bird crap can eat your clear coat like that if left on the car too long. I would try some "bug and tar remover" if that is indeed what caused the rough spots. Also try using a pair of nylons for scrubbing off bug juice....its soft enough so it wont scratch the paint, yet abrasive enough to scrub off the bugs.

well the car was parked on the dealership lot for a long time i guess...when i got it i can clearly see the water spots..i took some off but some are still there.. the stuff on the headlights is like adhesive that has dried up for a long time..i cant rub it off..

water spots require a special acid chemical to remove, they can't be clayed off.

also detailers' medium-drying solvent works better than goof-off and is better for your paint.

you'll just ruin your finish by beating on them with a rag or whatnot.

take your car to a good detailer who has these kinds of products.

do u know of any good detailers? the only plac ei know is A & J auto detailing on the corner of taylor and coleman.
