9ers fire mike nolan!!!!
any thoughts? i saw it coming our defense wasnt up to snuff with the talent level....our offense in the hands of martz is putting up points but also getting the shaft in the turnover margin....we havent been to the playoffs in like 5 years....now if we could only get rid of the yorks (and im assuming they'll have any sort of smarts and bring in mike holmgren to be the gm next year)

SF 49ers Fire Mike Nolan As Head Coach
49ers Team Page
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― The San Francisco 49ers fired head coach Mike Nolan Monday evening after four losing seasons with the team, ESPN reported.
Just hours earlier, ESPN had initially quoted sources as saying that Nolan would be fired after this upcoming Sunday's game against Seattle — which would've coincided with a 49ers' bye week, much like the Oakland Raiders recent firing of Lane Kiffin had.
The 49ers are 2-5 so far this season and have lost the last four games in a row. The team went 5-11 last year under Nolan.
Surprisingly, Mike Singletary will apparently replace Nolan, according to ESPN, and not highly-touted offensive coordinator Mike Martz.
Singletary is the 49ers assistant head coach who works with linebackers. He started his coaching career in 2003 as a Baltimore Ravens' assistant coach.
Nolan had a little less than two years remaining on his five-year, $8 million contract, at the time of his firing.
Officials with the 49ers organization did not immediately respond to requests for comment from CBS 5.

I think they are bowing to the pressure of the press. First dumping their number one QB and now dumping a good coach. The coaches are getting dumped on way to regularly these days. Easy scapegoats.
What needs to be looked at is the ownership group and upper management for their draft choices and their personel choices.
Nolan didn't do as good as he probably could have but when you get a new offensive coordinator every year and are playing with a QB that's essentially a rookie this year what can you expect.
I bet if Nolan and Martz got to play together for a few years and build a team they'd be fine.
The best teams are the ones that have some stability.

Yea if we could only get rid of the Yorks we would be heading in the right direction. We have the talent, just need a quality veteran QB. I'm excited for Singletary, he is a beast!

Wonder what will happen when the press eventually pressures the Yorks to step down as owners. Then, I'll be singing "ding dong the witch is dead" in the streets..

yeah the yorks are terrible and seem to overpay for the biggest free agent they can sign (justin smith anyone?) our linebacking core is legit but there doesn't seem to be a sense of creativity when it comes to blitz packages or any pressure from the d line (oh the things we could do with jackson the d coordinator from Philly) and the offense under martz is gonna score but after the last few weeks it's not getting scored on that seems to be the problem....but hey at least our special teams is legit....manny lawson for president 08!!!!
