is 35 offset bad for your hubs?

is 35 offset bad for your hubs?

Ive been trying to find some concrete evidence on this issue. i currently run 17x8 +45 and am thinking of a 17x7.5 +35 for winter... the offset calculator tells me that this setup will have me stickin out 4mm and give me 6 mm inside clearence or sumthin like that, which will work for my wagon i guess. but im mostly worried about the repurcussions to my drivetrain from running an offset too low. i know lots of sti guys take evo wheels and run that, but i just have the saabaru drivetrain, not sure if its as strong to handle that... the wheels wont really see any hard driving if that makes a difference. any info would help great. tia.

its not good for your wheel bearings

why not just go with a wheel thats meant for the car?

like something within 48-53mm

well, i got the +45s on right now and i like that stance. for a winter wheel, i was thinkin that a 17x8 wheel would be overkill, and on top of that, edgeracing has the nt03+m in 17x7.5 +35 and thats about 200 bux cheaper per set than buying the 17x8 version. plus i can bundle tires and stuff like that. anyways if its bad for the bearings then i wont do it, i was just considering the option since it was cheaper and stuff. oh, and also, i cant run most +48-53 wheels cuz a, i dont like the tuck inside the wheel well, i like the wheels out to the edge of the fender, and b, the 332x32 brembo set doesnt agree with most spokes. so idk, i kinda just want to get a wheel i like while meeting those requirements. thanks for the helpo.

The wheel offset isn't just for fender clearance. Proper offset centers the load over the center line of the wheel bearings. Stray too far from a certain offset range and a car can suffer wheel bearing failure, especially during hard cornering.

Stick with wheels made for Subaru applications and you'll avoid nasty problems.
