Plugs aren't until 60k.

Otherwise, if you're on a budget do it yourself. Just remember to save receipts and note your mileage, etc. For a list of manditory services look in your owners manual.

Oil, filter, drainplug, coolant (don't forget the conditioner), brake fluid, air cleaner and rotate. Inspect everything else.

Add me to the "DIY" list. Its not that hard really. Here are my shade tree mechanic difficulty ratings:

- Oil change - easy
- Tranny fluid change - easy (Use NON synthetic)
- Rear diff fluid change - easy
- Coolant drain - easy but a pita (Use GENUINE Subaru Coolant)
- Air filter - super easy
- Brake fluid - medium, need 2 people
- Spark plugs - medium kinda tough
- Fuel filter - easy

Thats it right? Like Unit 91 said, most is inspect but I changed for the hell of it. Do your research on scoobymods, i-club and nasioc and you can find detailed right ups/instructions to Do It Yourself. Any thing you cant do yourself, go to an iclub vendor and have them do it.

Good luck.

He won't have a fuel filter to change. Assuming the vehicle info is right. '05 STi has an in-tank filter that isn't serviced.

Yeah, if Matt or anyone else is offering to help... take them up on it. Not everyone will like doing their own work, but it's a fun way to learn more about your car.

- Oil change - 20 minutes
- Tranny fluid change - 20 minutes
- Rear diff fluid change - 30 minutes
- Coolant drain - 60-90 minutes(gotta include clean up time)
- Air filter - 1 minute
- Brake fluid - need 2 people - 60 minutes
- Spark plugs - 30 minutes
- Fuel filter - 15 minutes

Total Time: ~4 hours.

Better not be dominos. I like pizza that doesn't taste like salted cheese bread!

seriously though, each of these items can be done over a week long period doing 1 or 2 items per day/night.
Plus I am buys with wedding stuff the next month so it would be a while before I could realistically dedicate 4-5 hours of my weekend.

I wonder if shops charge for just changing spark plugs, because everytihng else seems pretty easy except the spark plugs.
