2010-2011 Outback lowering

I was wondering if anyone here had their 2010-2011 Outbacks lowered? Thinking about buying this car but would rather buy a Legacy Wagon (not available in the USA). Nothing extreme but maybe 1-2" lower?

Looks like they don't make any lowering springs for the new Outbacks . I even called swift springs for you and they are not developing any springs for your car either.

Ryan, thank you very much, really appreciate! Well, I'll need to test drive this car anyway and see how bad it's in a stock form

Is it just springs that make Outback different from Legacy or more stuff?

I could be wrong, but it seems like you could swap on a Legacy suspension to bring it down to that height. They are based on the same chassis iirc. But you may get some saggy butt action due to the extra weight over the back end of the car versus the legacy.

What do you mean by Legacy suspension? Just shocks/springs/sways or more stuff like bushings, control arms and etc.?

Thank you

I would think to get the height lowered, the struts and springs. Not so much the other bits. It could even be a matter of just getting legacy springs, but I'm not 100% on that. But since the chassis's are the same, the struts should be interchangeable.

Way to come in with a sensible post.

Tis true though, legacygt.com is a great forum for information along these lines.

AFAIK, the mounting points for various suspension components are different in an Outback ('05 and later) than a standard Legacy wagon. This makes it a lot more difficult to find suspension components that work. On the last generation Outbacks the only lowering option was coilovers IIRC.

Since Subaru recently changed the Legacy platform to a, from I can tell, much larger platform, it appears in similar size and shape to the new Outbacks. I do believe there was a problem trying to match up the older, ie smaller Legacy, to the larger Outback. I remember something like that. But with this new platform it seems like it could match up. Lets all hope so since we don't have a large wagon platform anymore that can be made more sporty.

So you would need Legacy suspension from an 09-10, to go on an 09-10 Outback. But previous years Legacy's won't fit.

I still don't think Legacy wagon suspension parts would necessarily swap right in. The Outback was reclassified as a "sport utility vehicle" for the previous generation Legacy ('05-'09). This meant they had to increase the ride height even more compared to the previous generation and that resulted in them changing a lot of the suspension mounting points and whatnot. I'm not sure about the new Outback because we don't have a Legacy wagon to compare it to.

I've had occasional thoughts about modifying my Outback... but then came back to my senses. It's an Outback! Plus, it's technically my wife's car.
