Yeah, I rarely witness a track day at Laguna Seca that has no motor issues. One day I saw it claim TWO Subarus.
Most of the cars were heating up at the track event. Although we have no idea what caused this. The oil could have thined out or a rod bolt let loose due to stress and heat. Wait till the teardown and we will know.

I can say that perhaps the greatest investment for any STi wanting to go to the track is GET AN OILCOOLER!!!!111ONE!!! I went from Track temps of 130C to about 100~110C and daily driving of 100C to about 80~90C.
I know alot of people say that the subaru engine can have oil starvation issues too; but at least keeping the oil cool will go a long ways.
