2 rallies in Oct.

Both are put on by the Porsche Club of America. All cars are welcome. Nice people and well done rallies. The first is on Oct 2. It is a time speed distance. It starts at Carlsen Porsche, 3636 Haven Ave, Redwood City. Registration at 9AM. First car out at 10AM. About 4 hours. This rally is perfect for first timers. The second is on Oct 9th. It starts at Rector Porsche, 1010 Cadillac Way, Burlingame. Registration is at 3:30 PM. First car out at 4:45PM. It should end about 9. This is a Monte Carlo type rally and last year it was very fast. Both should be a lot of fun. If you have never been on one you owe it to yourself to try one.

Actually Porsche did quite well in mid 80's with their AWD 959. It's an awesome car. So yes, they can hold their own in the dirt. It would be great to see them make a comeback in the rally scene!

This rally sounds like fun! Do you have a link for information? I couldn't find these rallies listed on the calendar on Porsche Club of America's site.

I'm a little confused? So you meet in Redwood City and sign in. Then what? A little more info would be greatly appreciated, or a link like 1badrex said.

I'll see...

If I can get Oct 9th off from work. That would be awesome to run a Monte event up here.

More info after emailing the guy about the one on the 2nd:

No helmet needed. Bring a watch that reads in seconds, a clip board, a couple of pencils and a navigator. See you there. (we also have a WRX).

Anyone wanna nav for me?

I got the 9th off. So I'll be going to that one. Looks like I might have a co-driver already lined up.

Sorry I'm late answering. Another link is [url]www.therallyeclub.org Look at calander. They run on tarmac. you do need a navigator but these are not like WRC. Early is as bad as late. The first one gives instructions with average speeds. these lead to checkpoints. You don't know when they will appear or how long it should take to get there. The closest to true time wins. In the second one you are given the time but the instructions only lead you to an observation point that gives a clue to the checkpoint location then you have to find it. All times are from the start so if you are late to the first one you start out late for the second. It can get fast.

Last year I didn't run but heard there were some structural problems with the way the monte was written, but Jonesi did a pre-check and says it is a much better rally this year.
Sadly I'll have to miss it because I'll be down in Arizona working on the route for the Ramada Express International Rally.

I might see if I can find someone to run the "Coyote Run" though, that is usually a really fun rally too.

Last year may have gone too fast in some residential areas but I thought it was a good rally. Pete you do get around! Hope to see you on "Coyote Run". Oh incidently everyone, the rallymaster is a Subaru driver. Roo, are you the guy who was in the Santa Monica Sports Car Club? If so we met at the gas station in Jenner when I was on one of Bushido's runs. Let me know if you are coming and I will try to bring the pewter mugs from the 60's to show you. I would like to meet anyone else who comes.

No other Subarus showed up for last Saterdays rally. It was on some of the best roads in the county including Tunitas Creek, Stage, Pescadero, Old La Honda and many others. Try the one this Saturday. It will probably be in the same area. I've just about given up trying to get people to try these. What did you buy a Subaru for? Just to eat donuts and admire each others wheels?
