Don't forget the fact that standing up for your rights now labels you as "unamerican."
These types of things are becoming more and more common. As the rich and powerful continue to make these kinds of moves without being held accountable, the more they will continue to makes these moves...and the less freedom we will have. There will come a day when it is too late to do anything.
If you would read the writings of Thomas Jefferson and the other great early Americans, as well as the other great minds through history, the more you will realize that this is a cycle. It is a cycle that many great people have tried to break, but it is ultimately up to the people to take a stand and take interest in the issues that affect them...whether they know it or not.
Becoming educated should be the first priority of every person, and every TRUE American. OR, you can bury your head in the sand, and then complain when cost of living continues to go up, and the rich and powerful become more rich and powerful.
As I said above...people are still too comfortable to really make a move. Add in the fact that everyone is busy with interpersonal BS, politics, celebrity drama, and all of the other "distractions" to stand up for their rights.

I am definitely one of those people that is "too comfortable, involved in interpersonal BS aka life, holding down a job which is required for my life, etc." I feel that most of the people in my life and family spend most of their life/cycles/bandwidth/whatever you want to call it dealing with the most ridiculous bull**** while "important things" fall to the wayside. When I mention that my wife and I are doing things for disaster preparedness, we get weird looks that probably come from a place that doesn't want to admit possibilities. If they can make me feel silly for preparing, they don't have to feel silly for NOT preparing. Anyway.. I am just not sure what we are all supposed to do. Does taking action mean to quit our jobs, grab a rifle and try to take on our government? Does it simply mean educating ourselves on the historical fundamentals of our nation and *****ing at people who don't have the same views?
I am not trying to start an argument, rather, I am trying to make this conversation useful. There have been many of this sort. It would be nice to see one go somewhere.

Well I think that the existence of this thread means that the majority of the people here are not the problem when it comes to education. We must realize there are hundreds of millions of people in this country. The majority of them are not educated, and that is the intent of the "rich and powerful." Why else would funding to institutions of leaning be the first to be cut, while war (Natural resource theft) spending is increasing by year?
Taking up guns is supposed to be a last resort, and I did not mention that anywhere in what I wrote. By saying "unimportant BS" I am not trying to undermine whatever a person might find important. I was trying to say that out world is very busy these days, and there are a lot of things that we focus on that are less important than standing up for our freedom when it is attacked.
I am sure than many of us have wondered why our "war on terror" has actually decreased personal liberty for the average, hardworking American. Personally I do not feel any safer than I did before. This is especially true when I am attacked or robbed and the police say that they are "understaffed." But try and get a concealed weapons permit. Or better yet, **** somebody up who is attacking you when the police are not there, and see how fast YOU are put in handcuffs.
I do not claim to know everything, or even have an answer beyond the FACT that we all need to educated. But I DO know that our Founding Fathers spoke of these issues at great length, and they gave us regular people the tools needed to create and maintain a free country. The problem, as I see it, is that 200+ years of freedom has dulled people's ability to tell the major injustices from the minor ones.
Powerful people know this. They have the time, money, and patience to wait and seize an opportunity to increase their influence. According to World history, this is just the way of things. But I consider it irresponsible to just give up at this realization and let history repeat itself.
AM I making sense, or just babbling?

... Are you sure?
Maybe the "problem" really is the "level of education" of the "people" in this "internet discussion thread". In the "future", perhaps you will take an "oxygen bottle" when you climb to the top of your "soap box" so that you don't get "cerebral hypoxia". Your "post" rambled more than an "Alzheimer's patient" and featured more "misuse" of "punctuation" than a FOX "News" "entertainer".

I don't think we're far from a big revolution. People are seriously getting sick of the growing government. People are buying more guns, cuz they know the Police enforcement is getting trashed from budget cuts and of course, inmates are let out with "minor" offenses.
They were prosecuted and indicted for a purpose, yet we "don't have enough money" to hold them in prison.

True patriots use correct grammar and punctuation whenever possible. They also use correct verb tenses and conjunctions.

Honestly, this is small potatoes compared to the cost of our new, shiny, post-9/11 military industrial complex.
Yup, that's $3+ trillion for Iraq alone.

Here Austria is, investing a ton in the KTM E Motorcycle and here we are with Harley Davidsons...hmm
