Thanks for all the replies.
I note that you ALL recommend I take my car to LIC in Novato, even though I stated that I live and work in Oakland.
I'm curious why no East Bay shop was mentioned?

i live in dublin and i still go to LIC. i know others can do the job, but i just think they are the most awesome i ever met. they tell me what works and what does not. i go in wanting the wrong thing and they teach more and more each time. wealth of experience and knowledge. they don't stock any inventory which means they never have to sell you stuff on sale because they have to get rid of it. i can go on and on, but i think you get the message.

Check out their website under services. These are fair prices from what the dealer charges and other shops. Adam, Noah, and Dave are cool guys! They know Subaru's inside and out. Check them out.

Jane,
If you're not going to do it yourself, take it to LIC. Having dealt with various shops in the greater Oakland/Berkeley area, I'd take it there in a heartbeat.

just make sure they use Subaru transmission fluid *ONLY*, no walmart stuff. Had my 30k done at an east bay shop mentioned in this thread with generic brand trans fluid. Almost killed my car. and it took them 2 weeks to get me back in to flush the stuff out and put in the subaru fluid which fixed the "issue". do yourself a favor and go to LIC. I havent been there, but I'm going for my 60k.
i didnt even know there was a 15k service.
anyhow, i live in danville, so LIC is way too far for me to go. At any rate, i've been going to GB motorsports for any work that needs to be done. Prolly wont ever go anywhere else.
