+1 to Santa Cruz Subaru

I went in for my 7500mi service and even though it took them about 1~1.5hrs they let me take out a loaner car because they didn't want to inconvenience me. Even though initially I told them I only needed my service, on the way there my fiance reminded me to ask them about reflashing my ecu to fix the 07 STi's power surge at 3k-4k rpm. They were very knowledgeable and friendly and went out of their way to keep me a happy camper. Needless to say, my car is very smooth now when shifting past 3500 rpm.

isnt that why you have an STi, for the surge of power!?

I'll go there so they can service me

I've gone up there once, but ended up not getting the 30k service done. However, for any major problems that a local shop (method built/GST) cant solve, I'll go to SCSubaru

**** cypress coast, their service manager deserves to get beat with an old rusty exhaust

The feel of my fiance's 04 STi and my 07 STi is quite noticeably different. Say you're driving in 3rd gear and you are accelerating on an off-ramp and you're trying to match the flow of traffic by the time you merge on...from 3rd gear around 3500rpm the car feels like it's dragging and the turbo doesn't spool, but once it hits 4000rpm there is a slight hesitation before you're pushed back in your seat and the car takes off. After the reflash, the transition between gears is smoother and there is no hesitation before the turbo spools.

oh cool. cuz 3K - 4K seemed like a pretty big range to get rid of "surge"
