Question 08-10 OBS vs 2.5i

So i've been looking at 08-10 OBS and 2.5i for awhile now I'm I've decided I'm going pick one up and trade in my wrx to avoid my 60k service and registration since both will be due within a few weeks. My main issue is I donno what one to go with despite reading lots of reviews all over the place.

I've heard horrid things about the paint on the OBS but it does come with better wheels, has heated seats, and foglights standard. It also seems to have better resell than the 2.5i. I would only get the OBS in black since I can't do the other colors

The 2.5i comes in a sedan version and does not have the horrid bumper underguards, but are these removable? the 2.5i also has available sunroofs.

I've driven both and can't really tell the difference, the OBS is slighter taller because of the wheels, but if anyone knows any secrets about the difference or has any advice please chime in.

TIA!

what's your budget? are you buying brand new? Personally, I would go for the OBS simply because it looks better and like you said it has a higher resale value.

Well i've have my trade and I won't be buying new unless it is the right color combo and options. Unfortunately the 2011 OBS does not come in black on black only black with light brown interior.

Have you considered a 04-08 FXT? More bang for your buck than the impreza and better looking IMO.

I don't want anything with a turbo, I have no self restraint and it will be used for commuting 100 miles a day so cheaper gas and better mpg is my goal.

I'll probably head down to steven's creek saturday since they have multiple cars that I'm interested in so hopefully I'll come home with a new car but I'm so confused a 07 2.5i with 39k is listed for more than an 08 2.5i with 41k both have similar options and both are CPO

ahhh, well there's the non turbo forester too but definitely heavier than the OBS or 2.5. I sold my 05 wagon last month. Now i'm looking for another Suby...again.

Just get the knew mustang v6 305hp and 31mpg!

Was curious as to what the cost difference would be if you kept the WRX, and starting all over with a new 2011 OBS. Like how long would you have to keep the OBS to make up for the difference/break even on the loss of value of your WRX , and the gain of mpg/octance cost. Aren't 2011 OBS' a tad over $20K (w/taxes, fees), and wouldn't you lose a good amount of money on your REX?

Just trying to look out by asking questions, but you may have already thought through these things.

I want AWD so the mustang is not an option. I would save on gas, maintenance, and insurance with a OBS. Also, less can go wrong with a OBS and I won't have the desire to mod it. I'm probably going get a used OBS for about 17k or a 2.5i for less OTD with low mileage. Since my credit is much better now than when i was 19 my APR will be lower and my monthly payment will be lower than it is now, but the loan won't be over halfway done.

Dude... If your WRX was manual I would trade you straight up.

I would recommend the 2.5i, premium if you can find one. If you get a premium, you get all the heated stuff like the OBS plus some more things like the sunroof and it is still $1000 less than the OBS.

Personally the two-tone of the OBS just kills it for me as well as the higher suspension. I also have a feeling that regardless of which car you get the wheels are going to change, just saying.

what kind of mileage are you getting with your wrx? I'd be surprised if it was a whole lot better in a new OBS or 2.5i

my gf just bought a 07 2.5i auto with 32k, and it was priced about a $1000 less than my friend's 09 2.5i 5spd with 32k

dont know why, but i can understand as i like the 07 2.5i way better than the 09 (besides the auto vs 5spd)
