Is it possible to open them up and paint the silver part black? Sorta like the EVO IX.

yes. There is a good thread on iwsti. The 06 wrx headlights are no different than any other head light

Just gotta pry the housing apart and paint the surrounds

dont forget a heat gun or to bake em in the oven, you might crack them if you dont

^^^ it takes a little testicular fortitude to do it, but the out come is really sweet. ive baked a couple of pairs of lights, and they look a lot better without the reflectors.

lol..I figured that was a given. They WILL crack or not even open if the sealant isnt heated

Oven method is much easier than heat guns, ive tried both

Thanks for the link. Too bad its not possible...

Just gotta trade my 06 taillights with someone. The 04-05 tail lights look way better.

I did mine, I will load some pictures when I get home tonight. They turned out better than I thought they would.

err, either way. I traded mine for some 04-05 ones. Direct fit, leave the bulbs in. Just disconnect the harness and swap the hold thing.

Oops, sorry I dont know why assumed the thread was about tail lights the whole time.

Painting the headlights black on a black car looks sick. but i dont have the ***** to do it myself.

Trust me, its super easy. The hardest part about it was getting them out of the car. I hate those stupid little black clips, definitely broke a few.
