05 wagon head on collision
I just wanted to tell you all about a friend of mine who survived a head on collision at 75mph on highway 101. This happend last year in oct. My friend and his lady were driving back from SF to san jose on 101 around midnight. They where in the fast lane going about 75 when they hit another car going the wrong way. The guy in the other car, (I beleive was a hyundai or suzuki) was driving on the shoulder of the fast lane and tried to cut across traffic when they collided. My friends 05 wrx wagon took most of the impact on the passenger side where his gf was sitting. They both survived, but his gf had some serious injuries. He walked away with a concusion and a sore wrist. The 21 year old driver of the other car did not survive. They said drugs or alcohol were not involved. My friend only had his wrx for about 3 months, needless to say it was totalled. They were very lucky to be in a subaru! Proof, Subaru's save lives!

Glad your friend/his gf survived. The passenger compartment really held up well (yay for crumple zones working as they should). In comparison, here's my old '95 Mitsubishi Galant that I was in;

That was a 35mph offset head-on collision with a Toyota 4Runner (also going ~35mph). Unfortunately, the Galant sucked in offset crashes and I ended up snapping my left femur into 3 pieces due to the dashboard collapsing, and I also broke my right wrist. Thankfully, no internal injuries. A consumer affairs show I watched a couple weeks after the accident rated the Galant "poor" in offset crashes. Lucky me.
So, I'll stick with Subaru for performance and safety.

Nice to hear another story like this.
Just curious, how is the gf now? Since you said this happened last Oct...just want to see if the extent of injuries has had a severe effect on her.

That wreckage is insane. Happy to hear you're friends made it out. I don't think ive seen many fatal Subie wrecks, unless they somehow managed to wrap it around a tree or split the car in half. Goes without saying, but +1 for Subaru safety.
actually, +10000000 for being able to make it out from that.

Proof that subies are really safe.
buddy of mine flipped his subaru a couple years ago on 101 going north near SFO.
The car ended up upside down. Buddy kicked out the driver side window and crawled out. Walked away with only a tiny piece of glass in his thumb.
