04 Sti-replacing plugs-how difficult?

Nope no loosening of motor mounts required. Just need to take your time and have the right tools. I did plugs on someones 06 sti not too long ago, pretty easy for me at least. It just takes longer than other cars.

for 04 wrx had to take out whole air intake assembly one side, battery, water thing other side...and yeah small hands help....first time was like hour and a half, last time i did it, took 30-40 min

Simple terms remove the intake, remove the windshield washer fluid and you should be able to get to them. I would recommend using a flex spark plug socket. That's about it. I believe all the coil pack bolts are 12mm. So just take your time with it. Its not really a pain once you do it once or twice. I can do the whole thing in 20 minutes now!

To save yourself the hassle, I'd get platinum or iridium tipped sparkplugs, as doing it every 8k is a PITA. After a few times though, I've gotten it down to about 30 minutes.
Oh, and the rear passenger side coilpack has a clip on it, make sure you put that back on when you bolt it back down.
