[cell phone users] mp3's, mpeg4's into ringtones?

hey guys, just bought a phone (helio) and so far its pretty cool. it has some downsides to it, like when a person calls, their picture comes up but its in the very lower left hand corner, and almost to the point of not telling who it is (so gay) and there's no way to make it full screen.

another thing that baic might be able to answer though is my question about ring tones. i hvae a ****load of music in i-tunes. which is mpeg4 i believe. now my phone uses MMF format for ring tones. is there anyway you turn my music into ring tones? i don't want to have to buy a bunch of ringtones, because 1) it costs more money and 2) they hardly ever have the music i want as an option to get.

I do have a program on my computer that allows me to upload mp3's, video's and **** like that, but it doesn't support mpeg4 as a "ringtone" i basically need it to become a MMF format. anyone got any answers?

so , i ask baic, who knows a way to make this work?

not sure if this helps, but on my old LG, it took .mid files for ringtones and I would just rename the .mp3 to .mid and it would work as a ringtone. Not sure if that will work for your situation though.

(Sorry I'm I-pod illiterate) Isn't mpeg4 a video codec? Why is apple using a video codec for music?

I use audacity to make my ringtone. It's the easiest program that I've use to make ringtones.

I have a Moto L6 that uses mp3's as ringtones. I bought the program disc and cable from EBay (dirt cheap). With this program I can edit ANY part of my mp3's and use them as my ringtone.
Maybe check EBay for something similar ?

nothings wrong..my itunes is like that too.

the way i make my ringtones is to burn a cd using itunes then re-transfering it to my comp using windows media player..it will convert the music to WMA format then I use "Power MP3/WMA Converter" to make then MP3 files again. then ill just cut it and send it to my phone.

...kinda confusing but oh well

in itunes you should be able to convert it to an mp3 once the song is highlighted go to advanced then click on convert to mp3...

If your trying to find a program to cut mp3s I use Power mp3 Cutter I can email it to you guys just pm me your email.

btw it is a pc program so if your using apple just use quicktime pro to cut mp3s...

when you download music via itunes, it is encoded in to DRM'd AAC. You need to use JHymn (http://hymn-project.org/) to decode your itunes AAC music to MP3.

Once it is in MP3 format, head on over to howard forums (http://www.howardforums.com) and look for your carrier and phone maker. There is a tone of info on there.

I clipped the MP3's to what i wanted and re-encoded as MP3. Then changed the extension to .mid It should work for you. GL
