i've never been on the track before but...
if someone hits someone else or causes damage to another car are they responsible for paying for the damages?? how does that work because my friend brought that to my attention just recently!? I'll be running in the beginner class....should i worry about crashing my car?? Bad drivers?? etc??

Playing safe on the track is always an issue. I would highly recommend not over extending yourself out there. In terms of physical damage you'll have to take care of that on your own. No insurance company will cover you, so don't be crazy out there.
There should be track insurance for bodily damage, I would imagine this is where the majority of the fees will be spent on.
If you are still having more questions just ask alex, he should fill you in.

actually, some insurance companies will cover you on the track as these events are NOT races. i can't remember off the top of my head which ones they are, but you can always just ask your insurance agency if they cover driving schools.
these events are simply high performance driving events = friendly get together driving on the track to improve your driving skills and ability or to simply learn track driving. no one should be exerting themselves to the point where accidents are happening.. we're all just out to have fun!
in the novice group, i believe there will be instructors handy to help out. if you feel you really need one, perhaps you should talk to alex

Those of you in the beginner group are actually at the least amount of risk of an accident on track, because passing won't be allowed in that group except on long straights. Other than that, as long as you keep it on the asphalt you'll be fine. Also, the occasional off-track excursion won't do anything more than get your car nice and dusty. And we've all been there, trust me.

ok thanks for all of the info. I was just concerned because i trust my driving but i'm not sure about other drivers...i guess especially on the novice group where people might think their cars are all handling machines right off the bat and go crazy. I will definitely check with my insurance. Thanks everyone!

In my experience, the beginner group is pretty well behaved. Everyone has the same concerns and seems to keep their distance.
