*HAAAALP* AP Dongle fried

So time for smog and I've put everything back to stock, except my Cobb AP.

When I tried to unmarry/stock map, the stupid dongle isn't working

I thought whatever.. there's no CELs and I should pass smog.

NOPE!!

2 of the sensors "Are Not Ready". The o2 sensor and the Catalyst sensor are not ready... FML

I'm thinking this has to do with the AP being installed.

Cliff notes:

Any chance someone has a Cobb AP Dongle I can borrow to unmarry my Cobb AP in the San Jose area PLEASE!!!!

The rear o2 takes a while for the monitor to reset and return back to "ready" state, can take 50-60mi of driving sometimes.

How far have you drove the car since trying to smog it?

Dont flash your ECU leave it be and drive around so the monitors can "ready". I made the mistake of flashing back to stage 1 when i put stock DP on for smog, that reset the monitors. The previous time i went in with stage 2 flash and had no problem passing.

Since trying to Smog? Not far.

But before that I drove to Monterey and back.
I drove to Monterey and back on Thursday and tried to smog Monday.

Do the sensors cycle every drive?

Hmm ok.

So I've just gotta drive it around for a while then take it in to smog? Does it matter if the car is turned off? Like if I drive it to cycle the sensors then turn it off while I wait to re smog

Failed as in you took it back to the smog shop again? Were you able to check the monitors with an OBDII scanner before you brought it back?

Also what version AP do you have?

It failed smog because the same two sensors were in a "not ready" stage.

I did not check the monitors with an OBDII scanner, I don't have one

I've got the v2 with the OBDII Dongle (the red one). Which apparently NO ONE sells or has.

I've contacted Cobb and to upgrade the internals to the v2b it's $150 and like 3 weeks.

Was hoping that someone here would have one so that I could just unmarry the AP, smog, then send the AP to get serviced.

Any tuners in the area might have one for the ProTune version by any chance? The only AWD tuner I know in the area is @ FFTEC

The monitors can be finicky to get reset. I dealt with this recently. Technically, depending on the MY, you can pass with at least one monitor that hasn't reset. Usually it's the evap that sets last, 02 should reset before that. I used a Bluetooth OBD2 connector, and syncd that to the torqued performance app on my phone. App cost like 10 bucks, but allows you to view the smog monitors in adition to a bunch of other stuff. These are all things a decent scan tool should be able to do, so if you have access to one, just continue to drive and wait for it to reset. Pretty sure that the rear 02 requires the car to be taken up to freeway speeds, and run for over 20 minutes without shutting the car off.

Ok so when I do this I should leave the car on while I fill out the paperwork?
I'm wondering if the AP is rebooting the sensors at each time the car is turned off. Then has to reboot the sensor per se.

I've got a buddy with an OBD2 scanner I guess I could borrow to monitor the sensors.

I've used an OBD2 bluetooth scan tool as mentioned above and it says no errors on the ECU, but when I take it to a shop, it says those two sensors are still "Not Ready".

I've paid the reg but still incomplete because I cant smog... Any other input?

You have to drive a minimum 50miles post reset.

No I know that, I've done all the standards to "ready" the sensors. But still doesn't come to a "ready" state
