spots in chicago are costly too... average for a garage spot in downtown is about 90k, montly fees for a floater is about 1500...

Meh...it would be tough. If you got a ticket twice a week, it would take 43 years to get enough $50 tickets (the highest parking ticket in the city for things besides fire hydrant violations) to match $225K. There are about 300 days a year where you can get tickets (assuming you dont do something stupid and park in front of a fire hydrant). Even if you got a ticket EVERYDAY, it would 15 years to build up that much. If you can't find a way to rent a garage or parking spot in less than 15 years, you have issues.

No you'd have to be nut to own a car in Manhattan. Other Boroughs are fine.

Zoning, etc. Also, renting apartments in a building like that quite possibly could rent for 10K+/mo, or sell for over 10M.
