$10 of Gas for $4 on Groupon!

Shuffled through my emails today and found this, I'm pretty sure everyone here can use a discount on gas. Works for BP Stations and Arco as well. Good for gas or snacks.

Ever notice how many chevrons are right across the street from Safeway gas stations? They kind of had to do it.

Not to many people are going to go to Chevron when they see a 35cent difference across the street plus added member discounts.

But so far I'm yet to find a Chevron that friggin works. Every time I've tried it says the system is down.

no joke. i always try it at the pump. at first i thought you had to use a CC to gain rewards at Chev. but then, ya, nothing worked. And to be honest, as a Sales tax accountant, the station owners pay a good deal of money to keep these Safeway loyalties available to their customers. I dont see the program really going anywhre but a trial run. I personally always buy from Chevron, personal preference. when they said they were teaming up with safeway rewards, i was super stoked! to this day i have not redeemed any safeway rewards at a chevron. basturds. LOL

They did it because Luckys/Savemart have it with Shell.

always trying to be bigger than the other guy....not to mention with a lot of gas station deals, a station that remained at same prices would undoubtedly loose business

I still choose Chevron over everyone else personally. In a pinch I will go wherever is close, except Arco.

Shell, Chevron, or 76 only for me. Price determines which one I go to. I should try the Safeway discount.

i used to go to safeway and would save a dollar per gallon! but TBH, some say its all the same, but i personally could tell the difference in fuels. Safeway 91 didnt get me nearly the same tank as Chevron or Shell 91

The differences are the additives, I hear. All fuel come from more or less the same facility.

We already have an extensive thread on fuel. Yes, the base gas is basically from the same place.

I dunno, before I was on E85, I had noticeably less knock margin on Chevron compared to Shell or 76. I haven't been to a Chevron in probably 4-5 years, so that easily could have changed, but I'm positive it had less octane (in practice, in our cars) than 76 and Shell did.

Not sure how or why it came about, but there seems to be a pretty widespread feeling that Chevron is "the best". My experience tells me otherwise.

Previously tuned also when you tried that and was it during a seasonal blend? Winter and summer blends are different and likely will behave different, espeically with a tuned car IMO. I've been using Chevron for years in all of my cars with zero problems, but never had any issues with 76 or Shell either (haven't used either with the WRX though). A few times I've had issues with Arco with different cars, so I just don't use them anymore.
