WRX parts on SOHC 2.5?
I've been checking out the various Impreza forums for quite a while, and have decided to buy a 2004 Impreza 2.5RS.
Anyways, I have decided to piece together a turbo kit using the stock SOHC 2.5l and DOHC (EJ25) heads. Is it possible to use the WRX intake/exhaust manifolds and valvetrain components with the DOHC heads or do I have to use EJ20 heads? Any info would be helpful in my quest for the fastest Impreza in Canada.

i think it would be cheaper to just find your self a 2.5 short block from the STI i have heard of prices as cheap a 1700.

2.5 heads flow very well, once port matched to the manifolds. Your engine, tranny, and ECU will be the biggest obstacles to overcome. I'm curious, why start with a 2.5? The disadvantages far outweigh the extra $$ you could have spent on a WRX, a much better starting platform for a monster.

As far as the heads go, I believe that the sti short block has the same bolt pattern as the WRX and the 2.5 RS. Thats what the seller said on ebay anyway. The seller was selling a 2.5 sti short block and thats what he said, so I would imagine that the heads off a WRX or a 2.5 RS would work, reguardless of how many cams it has.
Hope this helps,
Greg

Ahem...A friend of mine has the 2.5l STi shortblock and 98 RS 2.5l SOHC heads.
Will the RS cams be sufficient?
Can I...I mean my friend, use the WRX cams and which cams would work better?
thanks!
