Wastegate Size?

I thought that if Im gonna ask a question about external wastegates, might as well be in a place that would use them...

Anyways, just wanting to know why wastegates are made wth increases in size? Large wastegate for high pressure? Basics and advance statements are encouraged.

Never actually heard of a external wastegate but hey you learn something new everyday right?

General observations:
Waste gates are used to bypass the exhaust from spooling the turbo basically. With larger turbos put on bigger motors you need a bigger wastegate to handle the increase in exhaust gas, simple no?

Porting polishing turbo:
Used to increase efficiency of turbo spool and allows the turbo to expel the exhuast through the wastegate

I never heard that before. I actually dont know of a turbo like that wasn't capable of 15 psi or more, i guess you could consider that "low psi"

Flow. When your pushing 700cfm from a sizeable turbo you cant get effective wastegate action from a dinky wastegate. It won't allow you to stop building boost... ironically this is the same problem I am having with my vf34 (well not 700cfm, but you get the idea heh). The wastegate isn't efficient enough and I have to port it wider. Right now if I'm not careful when driving I'm over boosting all the time. The only thing keeping me OK is knock j/k
