Lightbulb Twin-Turbos?

Has anyone ever heard of a twin turbo setup for subarus?

I'm building a N/A setup but I'm just curious whats out there in case I want more power than the N/A.

Subaru had two twin-turbo models in the past, both Legacy/Liberty models. None has ever come to the states.

The twin-turbo setups were sequential turbos; only one was active at a time, rather than both at once. The point was a broader powerband, not more power overall.

I'm sure these models were interesting to drive but I'm curious if somebody is thinking of going twin turbos? Two small turbos running non-sequential, one turbo per bank of pistons, should spool quicker than one turbo connected further down the exhaust system. I think the single turbo would be easier to tune but who wants EASY? Am I just crazy or would this work?

I remember see a car on a hyper rev magazine that had a twin turbo setup. And I think there is a guy with a custom supercharger on a sti I think you can find him on YouTube

Forced Air Tech made this system for awhile. They no longer advertise it on their site though.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought having one turbo per bank of cylinder head wouldn't work well. i believe it was due to the firing order and pulses, e.g. each of the turbos would need a pulse from each head for it to match the firing order.

in other words, a really really long set of manifolds leading up to the turbos.

of course, maybe i just don't know what it is the **** i'm talking about.

....just looked, guess it would require something like this:

scc said it best. the time that toyota spent making a complicated twin turbo valve system with low and high end response was rendered moot by new advances in single turbo technology. the money you spend on that system can go towards a really good manifold and single turbo. the latest twin-scroll ball bearing turbos spool up fast enough for just about any application short of all out drag racing.
