Twin turbos won't really help with lag in a high-hirsepower setup. You still have to balance size and responsiveness with capacity and maximum power.

It would depend on the turbos you used for the setup. But to make your 600 hp target, you'd still have significant lag.

Just go get a big ole Twin Scroll Turbo. Thats what I'd do

edit: There are actually two different ways you can setup a Twin Turbo system....a Sequential TT which is meant to reduce lag via, one "small" turbo, and one "big" turbo....the small turbo spools quick for low end, when it runs out of its efficiency range, the wastegate opens and the Big Turbo takes over from there.

Then there is your standard TT which is basically one turbo for each cylinder bank, so to speak. They boost together in a combined effort to send you off into hyper space, approaching the never before reached....."Rediculous speed! " <think Spaceballs>

i was just about to bring up the sequential twin turbo setup, bastard beat me to it ;D, but yea even with this setup, you will still have considerable lag to just running one turbo. It also depends on how you mount the kit, and since there's no twin turbo kit for the wrx out there right now you'd have to do it custom. So when you make the kit, do it with the least amount of piping. If you goal is 600+awhp, what are u gonna do with it? drag, track, auto-x, rally? a gt-35R is pretty good even with that lag for drag, and with your valvetrain capable of 9k redline, i think you'd be more than happy with it. just my 2 cents

I would look into the GT32 TwinScroll turbo w 51lb/min compressor wheel.....I would forget a TT setup....the amount of work it would take in order to get it working would be tremendous....even then, I have heard about people having major tuning problems with a TT setup on a Scoob, unless you are going with a totally aftermarket custom Engine management solution.

Check out some threads over at NASIOC:

TWR is making a 3.3L SVX twin turbo motor in a GD chassis

Switzer also has a TT SVX motor in GD chassis:
http://www.switzerperformanceinnovation.com/

They posted pictures on the NASIOC thread above.

Good luck with your project. Have you checked out the Twin-Charged STi :

With any of these type of setups price will be fairly high. Lots of custom fabrication and custum EM, but you will have something different and if done right some thing with great performance. If you got the money get a 3.0L or 3.3L motor and TT it, then you can keep up with a 911 TT

the ez-30r has the same space as a ej motor for the turbo so a built ez30r with that gt35r turbo would be excelent

it is the same size, so i could pop mine out and drop that one in? there has to be more to it then that. but it would be cool if it just dropped in, you could take time building that up while keeping the other one in your car. and spend a saturday putting it in.

The main issue would be packaging the exhaust manifold to run a single turbo, the intercooler, accesories, and cooling capacity. Certainly doable though.

Turbo Magazine

There is an article in Turbo Magazine either this month or last where Blitz put a twin turbo set up in a wrx. Not much gearhead info though...
