should i upgrade to a vf34?

hello i-club!

i currently have a 05 wrx with the basics:

helix up
helix dp
borla hush
cobb ap
tein flex

im really considering getting a vf34 package, but im not sure if i should.

how much hp will it give me in addition to the mods i already have now? gruppe-s sells the package for $1300+ with tax and im sure i have to protune it for another $200+. im not exactly sure if its worth it. smog is around the corner, too.

go with the momentum turbo and you should not have to smog it untill 2010?

A VF34 setup typically puts down between 240-260whp on our Mustang dyno on 91 octane gas depending on weather, etc. Gruppe-S headers and a larger TMIC would help your car put down more power as well.

Let me know if you have more questions.

thanks,
Preston

I have a VF-34 setup, I made 247whp with a catted downpipe and a messed up catback. I will get retuned with the new catless exhaust but a stock car puts down about 160-170.

Cheers,
Austin

compared to a stock turbo with my mods and a vf34 with my mods.. whats the hp gain between the two?

to those with a vf34, did you have to replace your clutch? develop any tranny issues? im wonderin how safe it will be on the motor and tranny.

The stock clutch and tranny are able to hold the power of the vf34, but it all depends on your driving style. Launching it and banging gears are not good for them.

From your mods to the vf34 (w/fuel pump, injectors) can range from 40-60 hp...it all depends on the tune.

i have seen several vf34's put down well over those #'s without headers.what should be said is that every header kills performance in one area or another. i have not seen a set of headers that helped a car to make more power than the stock exhaust manifold. this is for guys that mod to keep the car streetable. not strip only cars. i have seen almost everyheader on the market dynoed, and not one of them has made me go wow i think i will buy a set.if anyone tries to sell them to the street guys because they will make more power they scammers, and i would not buy anything from them, because they will tell you anything you want to hear.

STi topmount on all accounts. If you have a VF-34, all you need is the STi top mount. A front mount will give you too much piping, spool time would take wayyy too long for what you would get.
