That's right, but I still run the HKS.

If you search around here enough you'll find all kinds of discussions about this but it'll be up to you.

 at least it'll sound cool

You won't get a cel and it isn't really going to help at all.

You could return the HKS and get one that does recirculate 50/50 or something.

if its not full recirculating your car will not run as well.. it well run lean. ive tested it on my car. stay with stock. if you want your car to sound cooler get a catless uppipe.. its awesome. downpipe is amazing as well.

some kid came in with a 04wrx the other day with a turboxs bov, didnt hook up any vacuum lines and it looked like some 5 year old kid bolted it on.. just awful. the poor car had less than 3k miles on it and he was wondering why the CEL was on.. if you know who this kid is , smack him in the face for me.

one more thing, i thought running the bov will make your car run rich in between shifts? not lean.

The stock sti has a bov, it's just not venting to atmosphere. It just dumps the air back into the intake, before the turbo.

The STi and the WRX technically do NOT have BOVs, they have Diverter Valves aka Recirculating Valves which plumb the air back into the intake track.

I ran the HKS SSQ BOV for about a year in my WRX and just recently switched back to the stock Diverter Valve and it is 2x smoother shifting.

IMO, you should save your money and buy something that actually improves the car's performance, like a catless uppipe.

And you will run rich between shifts, not lean if you are running a 100% atmospheric BOV (ex. HKS BOV)
