i have a 97L 2.2t, i'm not sure if the wire harness is the same on your vehicle. on my harness all the timing signal wires from the cam and crank sensor were wraped in a seperate insulation loom. this should help you find the wires. unfortunately i haven't pulled my dash apart in a while and can't remember the exact wire colors. other than that use the same dip and dial settings as in the japan manual for subaru. also either the first or last dip switch is a safety dip to let you go beyond +-5deg and use the full 15deg.
also a tip, make sure the conections you splice in are top notch. you should strongly consider soldering them. the car will not want to start with a crappy conection (trust me).
i hope this helps,
dylan
